Rear Intermittent Wiper

Hi... my rear wiper does not work on the intermittent setting. I checked the switch and it's okay. I traced the wiring back to the wiper motor and it seems to be getting power.
There are three wires going into the motor. I presume one ground, one power for full time wiping and the other for the intermittent? Is the delay for the intermittent built into the wiper motor? Would I have to replace the motor to get it working again?
Thanks
Steve

I didn't know there was an intermittent setting, though I always wish there was!

the switch has both a left and a right side to it, one is full time, the other is intermittent, pushing on the middle gives fluid for washing.

I guess my intermittent setting's not working either then.

I'm pretty sure there's a relay that clicks up front somewhere (maybe behind the glovebox) when it's on intermittent, I'll bet that's the problem.

Hi Steve,
My simple idea: Might it just be that one of the wires is broken / shorted. In the past, there were several posts about this (not just for wiper), the answer was to look at the loom where it goes through to the back door, often cracked, or the plastic sheath on the wire is cracked, or worn out from rubbing against stuff as the rear door is opened or closed (grounds as touches the chassis or another wire?).
So imho maybe it's something that is affected by the door being opened or closed, ie intermittent problem, the wire is OK when door open, but bad when door down and GRAVITY affects it??
Our intermittent does work, if you want Jay to troubleshoot it with the meter so you know what should be reading what.
Cheers, Christine. PS: Sorry I missed seeing you at West Van.

Steve,
You might want to remove the switch and take it apart. I had issues with my 4-way flashers and turnsignals, and taking the 4-way switch apart and back together fixed it. While I was messing around anyway, I opened up the rear wiper switch -- it is dead simple to take apart and put back together. (The switch just pries out of the dash.)
Easier than tracing wiring.
