window screens

So we have slept in the van several time but never in the heat before and this weekend we almost suffocated, (there were too many bugs to leave the windows open), has anyone built or seen window screens that fit when the front windows are partially or fully rolled down? I can visualize how to build some but if anyone has some advice that would be great:)
thanks

Where did you read that? I just searched, and didn't find it. What I did was get a big screen intended for camp cots, the type that hang off a frame. I attach it with magnets to the upper sides of the van. It covers just the sleeping area. Ya, downside will be that bugs get into the vehicle, but I already had the screen, and trying to figure out the other way would take too much time, and deadline for leaving on our trip was/is looming.

I bought a set of "window socks" when I was in Australia and those work like a charm. (they are on my wife's car for now)
It's basically a sock of mesh with a elastic at the bottom. This thing fits right over the door frame. It's mostly intended for rear windows/doors 'cause you can drive with those on and still roll down your window. They help to block the sun as well.
As for a Delica it would be a little more trouble with those elephant mirrors but I'm still planing to make some, they'd just have to be on the loose side... but they'd allow for good air flow as your windows could be fully rolled down.
As for the rear hatch and sliding door I'll probably copy what I had on my VW bus, a screen that snaps all along the edge of the inside frame. Provides great airflow and keeps the bug away. Use dark screen and you get some intimacy!

I'll try to find pictures for the other ones and post them but at least you get the idea... Can't deny the 70's genie of those VW...

"Window socks", um that made me think of a few weeks ago at our big garage sale; found our daughter had a large, hanging type with a ring at the top, mosquito net from Ikea that fit right over a Delica like a sock.
But one look told me the embarrassing comments from camping friends from the resulting way it looked wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Kev,
That comment shocked me... I thought you were quite used to embarrassing comments shot in the direction of the Delica - usually from your daughter right? lol

Why would others make a difference! (did you at least snap a pic so we can all laugh)?

Randi, who's not warped like I am, wouldn't let me take a picture of the Delica condom. Meaning she'd taken it off when I'd gone inside for the camera.
