*note to self:*
DO NOT get in a head-on collision..
That said, this was the 2wd van version, not 4wd off road version with bull bars etc.
Though the design of the van (I'd guess) makes it inherently dangerous for head-ons, my guess is that OUR vans would perform slightly better than the one in the vid.
It's no reason for a false sense of security, and the best way to survive a crash is not to get into one
My motorcycle instructor used to say "there is no such thing as traffic 'accidents', there are only crashes".

there are a few reasons I'm not worried by that... first of all, I've seen all sorts of vehicles with a full hood in front of them that perform worse, second as weak as those bull-bars are, they will take some of the impact, third the bumper design is completely different, it's hard to say for sure what would happen as the front end of our vans doesn't even vaguely resemble the front end of that one, I'm pretty sure in a collision with anything small our vehicles would ride up and over the other vehicle, if you hit a brick wall... well at that speed it really doesn't matter what you're driving...

I agree completely with Green1 & Jester on this. I've thought about it both prior to and since purchasing the Delica. The riding position is significantly higher than most vehicles out there, and there is so much more drivetrain involved in our models - so the 2wd crash test only has marginal comparison value. But, at the end of the day - people die in all forms of vehicles so the best protection is to do everything possible to avoid a crash altogether regardless of what vehicle you are driving. I also have to say that I tend to drive the deli in a much more subdued mode compared to other vehicles I own (or owned)...and certainly believe that this driving style lends itself to a somewhat "safer" experience overall. I ride bikes as well (currently a 1997 Buell S1 Lightning) and accept the inherent risks in doing so - but take defensive driving to an extreme so that my children will know who I am when I am old and shrivelled....errr, more shrivelled than I already am!!!
