that I haven't heard about yet..?
25MPG in North Van city driving is a BOLD STATEMENT and I for one would be happy as pig in poo if my Deli could do that well...
If the seller is on this board, perhaps he/she would post some details of the fuel system setup?

Ready for gas shortages and peak oil? Remember when a barrel of oil is refined, diesel comes out first, and as there are less diesel cars there is a bit less competition for it! That edge could make a big difference in the future. Also, diesel engines last longer (they take longer to end up in the dump-and environmental plus) and you can mix in biodiesel. Some places provide biodiesel free! Driving 25,000km/yr you can save almost $1000/yr by putting 20% biodiesel in this vehicle's tank. And when oil hits $200 As Goldman Sachs predicts, the annual $2000 savings won't be insignificant! Thats why you need to run a diesel. Next issue is the lack of diesels to chose from. That why you need a diesel 4WD Delica diesel minivan. More environmentally friendly. Green because the engine runs longer before it winds up in the dump. Green because it can run on biodiesel without modification.

About the milage, there is wide variation in Delica mileage. The new, latest technology fuel pump we installed means this is high mileage. We get 25 MPG city in Hilly North Vancouver.

1991 Low Roof Delica Exceed Turbo Diesel 4WD, PS, PB, PW, AT, 107,000 KM, altimeter pod. All 100,000KM maintenance done, next major maintenance 200,000KM. New timing belt, tensioner, seals. New water pump. New battery. Radiator flushed. New E-code headlights with daytime running lights, brand new tires on alloy rims. Oil and oil filter changed. Spent $1700 rebuilding fuel pump, injectors. Leaky fuel pump issue will not affect this Dlica. Passed all inspections including aircare and fully complianced to drive in Canada. ICBC insured. Service records available. Runs and drives well. All repairs and inspections done by certified BC and ICBC inspection and repair facility in Burnaby. This is a rugged, decent value workhorse, and should be one of those Delicas you see running with well over 200,000km on the clock.

The dealer is probably being 'generous' or 'liberal' with their interpretation of what kind of fuel economy these vans will get. I would like to try some hypermiling for a tank or two, and I probably could get that kind of mpg, but it would take serious effort to be able to achieve that (in my estimation). Check my post in the FAQ section and maybe share that with the seller.

That's pretty close to what I get around Salt Spring and close to what is posted by Paul in the faq. 25mi/imp gal=8.85km/ltr or 11.3 ltr/100k as some prefer to state it.

But what I want to know is where the free biodiesel is.

It's probably 25MPG IMP. which is 11.3lt/100KMs. it's like driving by a Toyota dealership here. They have plastered on all the Yaris'...51MPG imperial.

hmm....I suppose 25 imperial miles would be close, but damn it's misleading...

I'd like to know what was done to the injector pump that is out of the ordinary according to the seller though..
Perhaps they have a lead on some cool aftermarket stuff?

- Big deal. Personally I expect any vehicle I own to be going strong at 200,000km. My old Nissan truck is closing in on 350,000 and aside from a little rust and minor this and that's is doing just fine. But hey, maybe I have overly high expectations...

It's 25 imperial gallons...

I emailed the person and asked (a friend is looking for an affordable delica).

I also asked about the fuel pump. His reply:

canadian diesel wears out the fuel pump as it is blended differently from japan's, over tme all delica fuel pumps leak (this is the number one problem in online forums). you can get fuel pumps which are redesigned for canadian diesel-they use technology on canadian diesel cars as opposed to japanese ones. it costs $1000 to do this fix and thats why this delica gets 25mpg city

The ad is a little misleading (as I told the seller), but I would still look at the van if I were looking for one in that price range. Even to get 25 Imperial MPG - 11.3L/100km - means the van is well tuned.

Sounds like a simple re-sealing of the pump to prevent leaks from using low sulfur diesel. Valid point.
Wouldn't necessarily increase mileage unless recalibration and a tune was done during the resealing. Somewhat misleading.

So why on Salt Spring and Van Island does diesel cost more than regular unleaded?

Would be a hassle but I guess this could be checked. Like I posted, I get close to this with short (five km) cold engine hops on hilly Salt Spring. Very little idling in traffic though. No pump rebuild or injector cleaning - just a CC Autos tune.

Sounds good but check closely. Service records are a bonus.

Wow, I obviously have way too much time on my hands - or I'm avoiding doing something else (more likely).
Just sounds like an exuberant sales pitch with maybe a pinch of exaggeration thrown in.

Yes, if you're going to use ethanol blended biodiesel or more a another corrosive type of biodiesel. But if you're going to mix veggie oil in with your diesel, then you're good to go.
