Just got back from the coast with "Radio Guy" in his low roof and us in the high roof. Had a great trip with no Issues. The trucks ran great(although a little smoother on the downward leg with Canadian fuel)I averaged a little under 27 mpg , probably would be closer to 30 if we took the light bar and roof rack off as there was some pretty stiff winds all the way.Got alot of looks down there for sure.Met lots of friendly curious Americans along the way.The truck ran cool all the way back I-5 in 30 to 35 c temperatures.(Thanks Mardy for the new radiator cap suggestion) Gladly we had no boil over issues like 2 wks ago up the Kettle Valley in the Okanagon. The picture in front of the Guppy is from the Tillamook air museum. Awesome stop if you are into navy aircraft, blimps and things.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Great info, and great pics. Absolutely love your Deli. What kind of roof rack do you have? Any unique advice for someone contemplating taking as long of a trip or longer? I can imagine the frenzy your Deli caused at the highway rest stops in the US  Living vicariously through your story! Cheers!

Thanks Gwr, The roof racks installed are from Maximum Overdrive 350.00 and the light bar is from Jaos.I got that one from Mardy .Im not really to crazy about the rack , its pretty light duty and were thinking that a aluminium rack off a Padjo would be a better fit as the towers look the same as the bar. As for getting ready for this trip , CVI gave it the once over before we left.We also carried oil filters , tools and repair manuals for both the vehicles. We never bothered with extra belts on this trip because they were replaced not to long ago and figured it wasnt an issue. Also a parts cross reference sheet you can download off this site is a great resource to carry for a little insurance.Cruising at 2500 rpm (100 klm hr) down the !-5 wont pass you very many vehicles but what the heck , its all about the drive in these rigs, and not the race to get there!
