Select one of the indicated days you'd like to drive to Coombs to see Glen give demonstrations or informal lectures on a variety of topics pertaining to Delicas. The days chosen are all Saturdays, and if there is enough interest for more than one day, Glen's willing to accommodate this as well. Poll will run until the 2nd August at which time the chosen days will be displayed in the original thread.

So I have spoken to many different people about having an `open day` at the shop . I have also spoken with John at Rocky Mountain Imports who has volunteered his parts knowledge and advice on the same days . With the two of us working together on this there should be no question go unanswered !! I am thinking that if there is enough people attending we should maybe wheel out the bar-b-q and maybe a beer/pop/water in the afternoon . I think that a start time of 10:30 would be good as John at RMI is also in Victoria and would need to get here also .
What are the topics that everyone would like to get information on ?? It would be hard to explain everything about a delica in one day but if there are any topics that need to be covered I can prepare some parts/props that would assist in explaining problems .
If there is enough interest in these open days and I have everything set up I do not mind running them on several days throughout August .
Please respond to the poll about days and list any questions/areas of particular interest so I can prepare myself . Like Mararmeisto said I have lots of vans in various states of disrepair that can be pillaged for suitable parts and give thorough explainations in the workshop without having to crawl inside a vehicle .
I am still taking with John at RMI and trying to plan out how we can make the days both fun and informative . Will keep you posted on any updates .
Thanks , Glen

Awesome!! I put in for the 16th, though am easy. (The 9th would mean a bit of a rush to get home as the Georges St. Pierre title fight against Jon Fitch is on early that evening - HUGE event!!) Anyway, I am interested in learning basic maintenance I can do myself (filters, grease nipples, and so on) and things I should be watching out for ("if this common issue arises, do this..."). Beyond that I am very interested in learning how the thing "works" - A motor in pieces could enthrall me for hours, and having someone explian how it works all the better! Bottom line is that I want to know more about how our bus works and ANYTHING Glen can teach me to enrich my understanding of it is GREAT - Can't wait! Looking forward to having some face-to-face delica conversations as well. There are several other buses cruising around up here in Campbell River, but I seldom run in to anyone here on the forum or out there in the real world. See you sometime in August :M :-D

Can a DeliWannabe attend?

This sounds like a great opportunity to have a thorough education on a vehicle I've been thinkin' about buying. I voted for the 16th, but I'd go any of the dates available. That is if I don't have to survive some hazing ritual, haha.

Great forum by the way, kudos to all involved.

Sure, you can come... can't touch anything, but you can look.

Okay, I'm joking. Actually, it might be a good way to make an informed decision regarding the purchase of one of these vehicles. I must admit, it was a little daunting when we purchased ours - not knowing if any of the maintenance could be done here, what could I do myself, etc.

What Konadog said. In addition to that, I would be interested in a brief overview of the suspension and drive train... lube points, bushings, adjustments, etc. If there's time it would be interesting to see how to adjust the trans kickdown as well.

Hope to make it.

Steve

I'd like to echo the person who said "common issues with Delica's". I'd also be interested in learning a little about biodiesel, since I know you are working on that, Glen. Finally, I've been taking my Delica offroad to get to surf spots. I'd like to know a little bit better what types of hazards to avoid. For example, I've heard that getting your tailpipe submerged is bad news.

Thanks for putting this on. I'm looking forward to it!

Dave

I'd like to attend. My preference is Aug.16th. Subjects I'd like to see covered are:
- areas of "weakness" to watch for eg. prone to problems, poor design - mechanical or structural.

- good modifications and/or maintenance activities - especially specific to operating in this wet-coast climate and, especially, when there'll be a lot of gravel road travel.

- compliance what to dos/how to dos. Am looking for a set of compliant headlights for a '92 if anybody attending has some for sale.

Hm, I am thinking of taking the Land-Pod instead of the Landmaster (sorta like how Batman has the Batmobile and the Bat-pod, I bought a bike that is as unique as a Delica) I think weather will be the deciding factor. I will post some pics tonight, it's pretty cool!

You know? My schedule is constantly changing. I am on solid elevens now ~ that is to say: The set has to be finished to make shooting schedule and I am working eleven hour shifts to help make it happen. I am also doing this faux finish job on this bed frame for a client, to make it look like fir and that is happening on the weekends. Looks more like the sixteenth for me at the moment. Looking forward to it, none the less ~ I could do with getting out of the city if even for a couple of days.

Cheers for now,

Falco.
