What is considered the best oil filter and where would I find that for the best price? Coming up on the first oil change and would like get it all figured out.
Thanks, Lenny

Check the wikipages for different part numbers. I like the WIX filter myself (little less money, same/better quality), others like others. Pick one, use it, change as required. Thing to remember, diesel oil will look like crap very soon after changing - just the nature of the engine, not a breakdown of the oil.

I usually stick with the manufacturers recommendation (although cynically speaking one might consider it a "racket" in that MMC recommends using their own oil filters, HA!) But if you want the best priced one, my advice is to shop around! During my compliance, an oil change was done (despite my directions to leave it alone-i planned on taking it somewhere else) and i was charged $47 for the filter alone! Thanks guys! I know for a fact that the exact same MMC filter is being provided elsewhere for $25 ! I mean people do have to run a business, but this was blatant extortion and profiteering in my mind.
