Trouble with waste gate acctuator...

This evening, I noticed a squealing type sound like a slipping belt, but traced it to what I have identified as the waste gate acctuator (it sits below and to the rear of the EGR valve, and is picture in MMs EGR blanking photos, and refered to as "another valve" that he accidentally removed a vaccuum hose from). In the photo, it is the valve with the hose attachement circled in red.
It seems that this vaccuum valve is leaking, probably internally. It looks like it has seen better days. The hoses seem tight and well secured, but the bottom of the valve is corroded. I was unable to remove the hoses to plug them and confirm that this valve is in fact the culprit.
Just wondering if I'm going to get myself in bigger trouble if the waste gate acctuator is not working properly, or is stuck either open or closed.
Opinions and insight would be appreciated.
Cheers, all.
