Potential Delica / Pajero buyer

Hi everyone, this forum is excellent. I've been reading input by members and have been impressed with various topics. I, however live in Mississauga, Ontario. This van is most uncommon as I have not seen any Delicas on the road here. I like the idea of the Delica due to it's diesel engine option and rugged build. It would seem that I'd be more inclined to get a 2wd rather than a 4x4 since we rarely see anything more than 6 inches of snow at any one time! (which may be 1 or 2x per winter). I've owned a domestic 4x4, however I found the fuel consumption in city and the mtc quite costly.

Locally, JDM vans are not popular, however the JDM 4x4 Landcruiser diesel is becoming more popular as this is the most common JDM vehicle I've seen. I am curious to ask how most of you are finding your fuel and mtc costs with these.

Hi Marc - welcome to the forum.

Fuel consumption is a very popular topic on these boards. A quick use of the search button will reveal all you want to know. You may want to start with this post in the FAQ section: http://www.delica.ca/forum/expected-fue ... -3177.html

As for 2wd vs 4wd, it is extremely rare to find a 2wd, and they are not that great. In fact, I'm not sure if the true JDM delicas even come in 2wd.

The beauty of the 4x4 is that it is not an AWD (all wheel drive). Use it as a 2wd for most of the year, and when you need it you can engage the 4wd. You'll find lots of uses for it, I'm sure. Plus it's just that much more safe in the snow.

Enjoy the forum.

Delica came with 2wd option. If you look hard, you will find a 2wd. with 2wd you can save fuel as you are not carrying the extra load of tansfer case, diff, etc.

I have recorded my fuel consumption as best I can for my Delica since I got it, you can click the banner in my signature for the details. (http://greenhybrid.com/compare/mileage/car.php?cid=5647 ) If you want the data in Canadian or British measurements you'll have to sign up to the board and choose your preference in the user control panel.

that's awesome that you've tracked the mileage that long. It gives a really good basis for comparison. tks Marc
