i need to make room for my WVO tank. i realize not every l300 has rear sway bar, so i presume its okay. your thoughts?

Our Delicas are tall and need all the help they can get in the cornering department. I'd leave the sway bar where it is.

Jumbo Smurf had no sway bar. With the lift an tires it was almost 8' tall. Sway bars are more important if hauling a trailer or something. As I have reiterated in the past, you would be better off to upgrade the torsion bars (I know they are on the front and the sway bar is on the back) but the ride and handling improvement is dramatic. Dump the sway bar, it just gets in the way off road.

Doing the same on mine.

I took mine off to test it out and there's wasn't any noticeable difference.

I have larger shackles, shocks and reindexed the Tbars so the overall suspension is stiffer.

1 against and 2 for so far. ill take it out then, since i need the space, and ill make sure to be careful when cornering!

You'll have problem selling your sway bar unless you include the mounting brakets with it which is sitting on your leaf springs... If you were to sell your sway bar you'd need to trade that plate with whom ever would buy it from you. Easy enough to remove, just extra work and time... Got mine out as well after doing some serious "testing" with Bruce's van in the UK. Couldn't tell any difference!

ya, i dont feel a difference at all...

i dont remember any connection to the leaf springs!? thing is though the models that dont have rear sway bars i think dont have the holes in the frame threaded for attaching the bushings. i saw those linkages for sale somewhere though $$$

If you load down the rear, you will notice a difference on the highway 90km/hr +.

BUT, if you replace the normal shocks with gas charged one's and either re-arc the springs or add longer shackles, those two mods stiffen up the rear enough to warrant removal of the rear sway bar.

It's not the linkage I'm talking about as those come out easy with the sway bar. If you follow each end of your sway bar it connects to those short linkage bars; 6" long or so and place vertical between the sway bar and the plate I'm talking about.

That plate is 6"x6" or so, sitting flat and has the U bolts attached to it. That's the plate that would be required to trade with someone looking to put sway bar if they didn't have one to start with. Reason being the non-sway bar equiped van have a similar plate but theirs don't have the connection piece to connect to the linkage bars...

ahh okay i follow.. well then, i guess i wont be selling my rear sway after all

i intend to replace with longer shackles. as soon as i find some
