I just discovered a small leak on my Delica's radiator. (see attached photo). Should I look to replace/rebuild the radiator or there's a safe way to patch up the leak? What is the cost of replacing/rebuilding the rad?

I would avoid doing a patch other than for a very temporary fix. Best to get a new one or go to a rad shop and have them fix it and pressure test it. If there's one spot that it corroded there's a chance that it's not the only. I'm not sure of the cost of repairing or rebuilding. As you may have read on this site Delicas do not like to over heat so you want to make sure your cooling system is in good condition. If you don't believe me ask Green1!

I would get it replaced with one that has been recored or hand cleaned inside, ccautos usually has them instock. Glen I think is going to post pics of my rad that I just had replaced as part of a full tune up and is a fair example of most of the deli rads, the port on the top where about 80-90% plugged with calcium and usually the ports farther down are even worse, diesels don't like to over heat, and it gets REALLY expensive when they do.

don't take risks with the radiator... it's a quick way to a cracked head! replace it.

Not sure who has one in stock at the moment. The usual parts suppliers as often mentioned in postings. I would start with John of RockyMountainImports.net for (he may even have a new one). Next MardyDelica of Amazing Autos in Richmond for used (or advice). Glen of CCautos on the Island will have a used one, and can do the work. Japanoid in New Westminster might have used, and can do the work also. Definitely don't ignore the problem. Christine.

Any radiator shop can replace your rad core. The entire radiator may be a problem because of the trans cooling portion at the base and its age. The core cost will be in the neoghbourhood of $400.00. I just had mine changed. Change the thermostat at the same time unless it's new, its good logic. check your hoses also.

if you want to remove the rad yourself PM me and I will send you instructions to make it easier. I removed mine but the core charge was still expensive. hopefully you can find a cheaper place to deal with than i did. I don't have time tonight to send the instructions. It's not a difficult job and requires few tools.

like Christine says Mardy or John Hamilton will have the thermostat. Others like lordco have a similar thermostat but I like the idea of the Mitsu thermostat. Its not perfect either, mine stuck the first trip but has settled down now with consistent 180 deg temp control.
