Hello all,

I just finished searching for the last hour and reading posts but I couldn't find this exact type of information I was looking for. I am hoping someone can give me some information and corroboration to my theory.

I think my A/C system needs to be recharged as it has works, but doesn't get near as cold as our other vehicle when the A/C is on. It's just, like, medium cool. Anyway, I *think* this means it needs a recharge, but just not sure. So let's assume it does then, does anyone know where a good place to get this done would be in the Lower Mainland? I am in South Surrey. I would like to find a place that has some experience on doing a recharge on the Pajero (or Delica). I am handy, but I assume you can't do this yourself?

I did mine. Just bought the kit from Canadian tire. Don't overfill, low side pressure is only 35 psi... It is easy

isn't the refrigerant in the delis the old ozone killing stuff? I though it was unadvisable to mix the old kind and the new kind?

I have a similar problem with my ac - it doesn't work. I checked the looking glass and noticed that there is no refrigerant in my system. I would like to join clintonian's request and ask for a quick 5 step how-to on recharging the system.

One thing that has to be considered is the old lubricant (which I don't know what it is for R12) has to be removed along with any residual refrigerant. The refrigerants are compatible, but the lubricants aren't.

If your A/C is medium cold, then it's probably dead. It should be COLD. That being said, when you change it over to R134, it won't be quite as cold as an R12 system, but you'll only notice that if you change from a fully functional system to a recharged one.

Finally, I don't know what the Pajero would be like (I imagine a bit better because it is a bit smaller inside), but the Delica takes quite a while to cool off due to the volume inside. That's with both systems (front and back) going full bore! I'd be interested to know how quickly a Pajero cools off.

Interesting... was always told it was the lubricant which was the 'problem' of the whole arrangement. As well as the releasing to the atmosphere part, but if one doesn't have any leaks...

One question though, how do you distinguish high side and low side ports? There are two ports located on the compressor and I have no idea which one is which.

Low side port is horizontal. Black cap if I remember right. High pressure is a schrader fitting(looks like a tire valve stem.)
