That pesky change to the 15 year rule

I am in a position now to purchase a Delica. The last thing I'm worried about is that possible ruling, and how it may impact me. I'm confused, will the law affect the current owners of imports at inception of said law, or just the future ability to import more vehicles? I really want a Delica, but am I screwed and tattooed if I own one once the law is in place? (if it comes to that) :?

I don't believe that provincial transport ministries will pass laws banning current owners from driving Japanese Domestic Model vehicles (JDMs) on their public roads.

Given the large number of JDMs that have already been passed, the provinces' potential liabilities (i.e., class action suites) would pose too much of a deterrent. I therefore believe that the current stock of JDMs is "safe."

With respect to vehicles currently being imported, I understand that there has been tighter enforcement in of minor "technicalities" during the Provincial Safety Inspection process. The http://www.ivoac.ca site has some interesting discussions on these and other related issues.

Thanx very much Mark, I'm still set on buying one, and can't wait to experience this awesome utilitarian vehicle.
