Hey guys, with my rear tires off tonight, I noticed a small tie-rod like thing, that appears to be missing a rubber bushing, though this piece on both sides of the van are the same - a small gap in the middle of the connection..... The little rod is about 4-6 inches long and appears to connect the rear sway bar to the leaf springs.
Does this look right to you? It looks like there's a gap. Do you know what it's actually called?
THanks very much
Steve

It's the anti-sway bar linkage. I seems okay to me but what do I know.... I'm a painter. If you take a look at this page you can compare your's with mine:

Hi,
Grab that bar and try to move it sideway (pull towards you and push away while you're facing the side of your tires). If there's no play you're fine, if not you probably need new ones (comes complete with the rod, not bushing only). They are expensive so I completely removed my anti-sway bar with no side effect aside from better off-roading capability...

Reach in behind the rear wheel and hold the sway bar . Lift the sway bar up away from the spring and then push back down towards the spring . If you hear or feel any "clunk" it needs new rear linkages (very common) . If no "clunk" they should be good for a while .
These are not a safety related repair but its nice to get rid of the rear noise when travelling over rough ground .

Thanks guys, I'll check it out tonight

Update - Checked it out, gave it the wiggle test - no clunks, no movement at all really. So I guess I'm good. Just looks suspicious with that gap in the middle...thanks again guys

I just got back from crawling around under mine while installing new shocks so I had a look. There is no rubber spacer that is in that gap. There is a thin rubber dust boot there flush against the bracket and that's it.
