Need your help!

My van has just had the fuel pump removed and replaced by my local mechanic who is a diesel specialist but now that it is back together it is lacking power. (The pump was rebuilt by one of our very reputable shops on this site.) Yes I remember that we don't have lots of power to start with! :-(

No black smoke, so I don't think the problem is too much fuel, if anything I suspect maybe too little.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. I've been over a week without my Delica and I'm starting to get the shakes! :-)

What happened with regards to the timing once it went back in? I assume your mechanic may not have the equipment to dynamically time it? (How much did it cost BTW?)

Something else I just did on the weekend that didn't take long, I pulled the inspection plate that covers the timing belt and looked at the timing marks on my pulleys to make sure they lined up and had not jumped a tooth which apparently is a common occurrance and can cause a lot of grief in this regard.

Which brings me to a question of my own, while the manual says the marks should all line up, do I recall reading somewhere else on this forum that in fact one of the pulley's, E.G., the injector pulley, should be advanced one tooth on the timing belt?

Can anyone clarify if this is true or not?

When you change the belt and you are putting the new one on you advance the camshaft one tooth. This is done so that when the tensioner takes up the slack the pulley rotates back and then all the marks line up.

Ah, thanks very much for the clarification. When I took off the plate and looked of course you can see just the injector and camshaft pulleys and not the crankshaft pulley, so while I could see that they were lined up, all I could do without pulling the radiator and all my belts was assume/hope the crankshaft also was lined up.
