Replacement Parking Pole

Hi all. i bought my deli 12 months ago. when i got it there was the bracket for the parking pole but no pole. i bought a pole fleabay which did the job.about 4 months ago when i went to my bus 1 morning, i noticed some nob-end had walked past and bent my pole which snapped it. so here i was sitting with 2 brackets but no parking poles. i tried numerous times to buy 1 from fleabay but to no avail. i recently saw another deli with a parking pole but it was different from the usual ones everyone has so i had a good luck at it and saw that it was half a metal mop/brush handle. i've now got a silver pole cut into half, using my 2 brackets, and made a pole for each side of my bus. there are 3 pictures of what they look like. now i aint no rocket scientist but this wasn't hard apart from attaching the pole to the bracket. i ended up by taking the threaded part of the bracket ( the bit the pole screws onto ) out and just put 4 telf tapping screws itno the new (half a mop handle lol ) pole and carefully screwed it together. it works for me until i find another pole but if you like the sound of this as a cheap replacement pole ( costs about £1 mop/brush metal handle) and need any help pm me and i'll help as much as i can.

sorry about the quality of the pics but i took them at night.

Hi
Saw this on the Aussie site as well.
How tight are your parking places that you need parking poles or are they just for show?
If you know the size of your vehicle and are a confident driver you should be able to park it anywhere without this kind of assistance.
They are like cats whiskers,if they go through the vehicle will, but if parking is that tight how do you get out of the vehicle.

Only time I've used anything like that was on a Scammel Crusader tractor unit when towing an oversize 16 wheel trailer with a D8 Cat on the back as the trailer was some 4 feet wider that the tractor unit.

crazy poms, we've got plenty of space here, but no space gear.

also, the poles are a tad superfluous, that's what the bull bars are for, right? :-D
