Who wants to teach me mechanical facts about my deli?

Hi all, I'm exited to be here & hope that I will find some help.
I'm planning a 4 weeks trip with my deli. If anything happens, I would at least like to know what's wrong with it and if I can fix it.
Is there anybody out there who can teach me (likely in the eve because I work full time) how a deli works, what I'm allowed to fix if I'm in the middle of nowhere & to know my car from A to Z???

Oh yeah! I would be very interested in this too. Maybe someone of the Delica experts here would take a pity on us and show a few basics one day!
I ask about that a few weeks ago already.

Lesson one of the Delica is locating the "search engine".
You will find the Search Engine located in the upper right area of your monitor, along with FAQ; Drivers; User Control Panel. Click on this, now.
Once in the search engine type what it is that you are looking for then hit "enter".
Next: Begin reading.
By the way, you will find exploded drawings of the engine, &c. on this site. On the front forum page you will also see a link called "Delica Wiki". Click on that, now...

Hi, thank you for your answers.
I rather want to stay in front of my deli and somebody is explaining me this and that. The books are helpful for sure, but I want to take matter's into my own hands and try to fix it.
I would pay that lessons of course.

Now now boys, we all know girls are yuckie but you have to give her credit for having the stones to ask.
Missy , I think it would be better if you were more specific. Just asking somebody to teach you how to fix your Delica would be like me asking a Best Buy Dude to teach me how to fix my computer in case something goes wrong.
Mechanics is 3/4 common sense , and 1/4 dumb luck. Its just that some of the people here come by their common sense a little easier than their luck.
The people here are not being mean by giving you suggstions and saying "read til your eyes bleed" for the helluvit. We've all been there. Think of it as passing you one of the tools you will need to "take things into your own hands". Its a start.
As far as being prepared , well, start with the basics. It all depends on your ability....and your tools. Do you own a thousand, five hundred, fity dollars worth of tools ? Have you taken apart a motor ? Is the firing order 1-3-4-2, or 1-4-3-2. Have you done a brake job on a vehicle 15 years old or newer.( can I push the caliper piston straight back in, or do I have to turn it as I push?) There are tons of guys on here with more knowledge of the Delica then I have total mechanical savy. Best advice is get it serviced before you go, so its one less thing you have to worry about on your trip. If something goes wrong on the trip, well ya did yer due dilligence .
Just remember - search for what you want, read , then if yur still stuck , ask a specific question.
K, now I'm off to get my wife to teach me to be a cook.

Welcome aboard Missy, you should update your profile with your location.
Maybe organize a mini Delica meet in your area, supply the rice crispy squares and have fun learning.

Perhaps the best thing for you to do is contact one of the highly rated shops like CVI in Richmond, book your van in for a check up before you go away and get them to tell you what they are doing while you watch them check your van.
Then you can have peace of mind about the condition of your van for your trip and also have an idea of what is going on under the hood.
Then at least you'll know some lingo and can hit that search engine when you need to.
