Artisan insurance

Just a note to all those out there in BC who use their bus for independent trade work. The brokers never seem to offer this info, but if you use your ride for say gardening, painting, carpentry, etc. you can get "artisan" insurance. It's still more expensive than pleasure only, but it is less than commercial or daily driver to and from work. So if you use your bus to transport yourself, your tools and supplies, to work-sites where you ply your trade, you may be able to save a little on your insurance. Though it seems
you have to bring it up and ask about it

Great advice!
Said gold van, spotted driving around CR is a perfect example; during the transfer the new insurance was about $1200 more then what we'd been paying cause it was set up for work use coverage.

At this point i have to and from work 15+km a day. I'm an apprentice electrician, and carry tools and often materials to different jobs every day and job to job throughout the day. Are you saying artisan insurance will save me money and offer me the same if not better coverage? Seems like its made pretty much for me, i always wondered about that.

Artisan insurance is designed for artisans, also known as tradesmen. With to & from work insurance you might not be covered in an accident when you are going to the second or third job site that day. Artisan is designed for just that, picking up materials and going from job to job.

Sounds like you might fit the bill Adrock. Stop in at an autoplan agent and ask. It's not a huge savings, but every little bit helps and as Falco points out, it's important to have the correct coverage. Good luck!
