timing belt replacement

So i have managed to confuse myself again..
I am preping to replace the timing belt on Bento,, and after consulting the 4d56 engine manual it shows 2 timing belts.. 'belt A and Belt b
Belt A turns the injection pump and the camshaft from the crankshaft.
Belt B turns the 2 silent sprockets from the crankshaft.
So do we have a belt B, and what function does it serve?
I have been to lazy to take apart the van and have a look. I was just preping the tools and parts.
Any other words of advice of this job?

hi, if your not used to it with this kind of engine pls dont do it as it might create more problem to you.
i see some people who got this type of problem & get worse to there delica. its not that expensive to let the mechanic who is familiar with this delica.
this is just a thought:

But it
IS expensive if a timing belt is incorrectly installed and things break - shudder...

I am a cheif engineer to 3000Kw so this is what i do...

One or two foreseeable issues:
You will need a tool to pull the crankshaft pulley. I made one when I did mine.
You will need to re-time the injection pump. This can actually be accomplished two ways but both require special tools.
Make it easy on yourself and pull the drivers seat and the panel which covers that side of the engine.
Finally one thing that I learned the hard way. There are two different torque values for the water pump bolts. Pay very close attention to the manual at this stage or you may find yourself with longer bolts (or worse a cracked pump). I fortunately have a decent supply of metric hardware I was able to replace two that I wrecked.
That is all I can think of for the moment. I hope this helps.

When we did mine, the silent shaft sleeve was leaking oil (had a scratch on it), so we machined a new sleeve from a risk pin, and replaced the seal. However, we must not have machined it to the right spec as it is leaking again, and now we have to do the job over again. This time I'm trying to source a new factory or OEM sleeve, but so far had no luck hearing back from Rocky Mountain Imports or C.C. Autos. If anyone can suggest where I may find one, pls let me know.

Sorry to say this now but try using a "speedy sleeve" instead of machining the shaft. My shaft had a groove in it from seal wear and 18k kms later no problem. I bought it at B&J parts in Port Coquitlam. Can't find my bill but it wasn't expensive. My buddy works in a mill and said they always use "speedy sleeves" on any worn shafts.

Timing Belt and Balancer belt must not be overtightened. Kathy & Brian's deli was overtightened by experienced mechanic, thousand miles later a dead deli, their post id is K & b & 2 dogs (ish). Christine.

Speedy Sleeve. Thanks I'll look into it. Getting the sleeve and seal shipped from Japan looks to be about $100.00. THat sounds like a better solution. I guess I'll just have to chance it will work on our home made ersatz sleeve.
Given that our guy was able to get the timing done to with .3 degrees of what a dynamic timing was able to do, I'm going to be of the opinion he's on top of tings enough not to overtighten, but I'll mention it to him if he's back in there again. THanks for the head's up.
