I was reading in the faq section about deli types, and what comes standard with each model. Just trying to figure out if all super exceeds come with the 2 battery set up for cold starting or not. I live in north central Alberta, and it can get ddaaaaaammmmnnnn cold overnight, so that would be a nice touch. I am currently looking at a couple of sup. exceeds, but neither mention dual bat. or not.

The Delica's are 12v systems, not 24v like most diesel's.

So our starters/alternators are the same as in most vehicles these days.

Either which way, you've got a few options.

One battery - make sure it's high quality with high CCA's
Block heater paired with an oil pan heater (cheapest)
Espar Hydronic (best)

If I lived in a sub zero climate and my Delica/Pajero was a necessity. I would have an Espar Hydronic put in.

Yes, it looks like an octopus but wow do they ever heat up your engine quick.

There are many Pajero and Delica owner's that live in northern canada and don't have any issues.

Thanks jfarsang, that is the post I had read. Both delis I'm looking at are posted as super exceeds, however the private owner I contacted said it did not have daul batt., and the imported one I'm interested in doesn't mention cold weather package. Does anyone have experiance dealing with rising sun autos? That's the dealer I'm thinking of buying from. A search didn't bring up info.

Not sure about rising sun.

Yeah, I was considering either the cham. or the jasper, but I fell in love with the crystallite roof. Superfical, I know, but who doesn't like a girl with a little window dressing.

You'll be replacing your battery(ies) anyways, so it really doesn't matter whether or not you get an exceed (1 battery) or super exceed (2 batteries)

I will be swapping out my 2 battery system to a single battery for more room. The 2nd battery is there for one reason only. Higher cold cranking amp's (CCA's) which you can get with today's technology in one battery.

Depending on how north you are, I would go with either heating options I listed above.

That or you can also pickup a webasto coolant/diesel heater. Those can be had on ebay/used for under 1k.

With that said, I've had my Pajero for a week at -28 C not counting windchill up north 2 winters ago and it was bone stock.

Ran great. Only thing I made sure was to change viscosity/oil to a lighter weight, new glow plugs,injectors,battery and had the ECU checked and some wiring upgraded (gauge).

Never had any issues in that weather aside from locks freezing and my nose turning red.
