Hi Everyone,

I hope you're all enjoying tooling around in the Vancouver snow, I certainly am. I have noticed a light that comes on in the dash display that says "wheel lock", I don't know what it means, I hope it's good not bad, maybe there's someone out there who can enlighten me.

The "wheel-lock" lamp means the hubs are locked. Have a look at the following threads, they should clarify things for you

I don't want sound stupid but I guess I need it dumbed down a bit. The light coming on and going off by itself means the hub locking is an automatic thing in response to road conditions? I get the feeling it's the front hubs and not anything to do with the LSD, because it only happens in 4wd. thanks for your patience, I'm new to delicas and 4wd.

it should only turn off after you put it back in 2wd and reverse 5-10 feet, if it is going on and off randomly while driving forward you have a bad electrical connection between the sensor and the light in the dash most likely, or possible something wrong with the sensor itself. I would imagine if your hubs where unlocking and somehow relocking while driving there would be very loud noises to go along with it.

I agree. If you had it in 4wd lately, and simply put it in 2wd, without reversing, then the hubs are still locked. It's not bad for the van to do this, it just uses a little more gas to drive with locked hubs. With ours, we reverse into the driveway in 4wd (so wheel lock light on), and turn off the engine. When we start up the van again later, the wheel lock light is off, but sometimes after driving a few feet it comes on again.

As Konadog has said, pay more attention to the sound than the light. When you put it in 4wd and go forward, you will hear a "clunk." That's the hubs locking. To unlock, put in 2wd and reverse in a straight line on a flat place for a few feet until you hear a clunk. When you start going forward again, the wheel lock light will go off.
