sliding door lock

I discovered something interesting during the recent deep freeze. While letting the van warm up I had the sliding door open. I pushed the lock button down and closed the door. I then could not get the door to unlock; either using the key in the drivers door or manually. The cure.....turn the ignition off and on again and voila, the door lock operated normally. Is this normal or unique to our van? I tried it several times and the results were the same. ie. push the lock down manually with the ignition on, door open and then close the door and the lock becomes inoperative. Cycle the ignition and it returns to normal.
Just thought I would post this in case someone accidentally locks the sliding door manually with the van running and then cannot open it again.

I had the same problem in Whistler when it got nice and chilly.
Figured it was just mine.

I don't know if this quirk exists when it is warm or not. Haven't had the opportunity to try it.

Mine was doing the same thing - Started at the 4x4 Toy run. Seemed to get worse as it got colder. The key worked fine. It wouldnt unlock when you opened up the driver door. Sounds like the actuator is gummed up, or the solenoid is sticking.

Mine is fine. Driver's door locks/unlocks slider only if it is closed. If open, has no effect. If I manually lock the slider when open and close it, it is locked. And the driver's door still unlocks/locks it just fine. Does sound like the solenoid or whatever is in the slider is misbehaving.
Oh, are you pushing the slider's lock button ALL the way down? Maybe you are only going most of the way down, and that's the problem? Just a thought.

Mine gets stuck too. Sometimes it takes several minutes to get that door unlocked - even pulling up on the lock from the inside doesn't help at times. The only person in our family who never has trouble with it is my three year old daughter. Don't ask me why, but she can unlock that door first try every time! The rest of us... not so much.

last night had some passengers back there and we had a sudden panic attack when the door handle inside stopped being able to open the door, at -20c I figured something was frozen/broken...
after a little while arguing with it I discovered someone had flipped the child-lock...
