hi, this is not the new grading rules in japan.
its a used car they dont usually tell all of them the bad & the good side. basically its a 15 year old, you cannot expect 100%.only things you can do is to wait until the vehicle came. thats why you dont overbid yourself to any car you want to buy, you need to have budget.
jap. importer is happy when some bidder from canada bid to high but not quite a good car. they dont care only wants your money. as the canadian market is just small portion not like the asain or other place that importer buy 100 or 200 units all the time. then thats the time they will have much time as t its a big business for them cannot loose that client.
thats why its better to pay again for another inspection.
this is not new.
cheers;
Mardy

Hello
I am not sure if the rules have changed; I just came across the link. As both Crusher and Mardy states it is a good idea to have the vehicle re-inspected or depending on your relationship with your exporter to have s/he look at it. The latter is clearly more related to the location of the exporter vs vehicle.
When I was first bringing in Delicas I bough them from Yokohama trading, one of the biggest dealers in Japan. The broker seemingly never left the office and as a result there where occasionally issues with the vans I got. Then I switched to a much smaller firm and since then it has been a world of difference. It is also vital to be informed about the vehicles that you are bidding on. For instance, a simple thing like rim size can make a world of difference; there is no 15,5 inch rubber that is DOT available here. That is a common truck size rime in Japan.
Have a good day,
Daniel
