GADS! AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF RESEARCH AND CONVINCING THE WIFE, KID AND HOUNDS THAT DELI'S ARE THE COOLEST, I PUT MY MONEY DOWN WITH THE FOLKS AT VI ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, MY VAN SHOULD BE HERE IN A DAY OR 2.

I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT THE WET FLOORS IN THESE VANS AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING EXPERIANCE?

WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT THE GUYS ARE IN VANCOUVER PICKING UP THE NEW BATCH OF DELI'S, MINE INCLUDED, I GOT SO EXCITED, A LITTLE PEE CAME OUT. A LITTLE LEAK.

apparently I have the problem :( and pretty badly too... a few days ago I opened my driver's door to find an inch thick layer of ice in the footwell... I had to break the accelerator free before I could go anywhere!

next chance at decent weather I'll be in there doing the repair...

Sort of on topic.... has anyone got a frozen floor problem? Mine has been frozen since spring... blasted cold. At least its not wet! I'll fix it in the spring thaw. I hope it warms up soon.

the ice has melted now... but it does sort of prove I need to do that fix for leaks at some point....

I thought my floor was getting wet from a leak, but most of the water was melting off the bottom of my boots and then freezing. When it dried out in warm weather the carpets are dry. I was thinking of getting some plastic grating under the carpet and drilling a drain in the floor. Easier than trying to find a leak and it lets the water I bring in out.

I have no idea what you mean by frozen, my deli has never been below zero 8) 8) 8) .

Just move to the coast and all will be fine!!!

On a serious note, I believe many of these issues have been traced to the windscreen seal and Glen has had a number of his Deli's resealed for small amounts of money.

mine is fairly convincingly the quarter panel (though once I get that all fixed up if it still leaks I may believe otherwise...)

We have had several vans in the shop with suspected quarter panel leaks . Some customers have re-sealed the quater panels many times trying to stop the water . We found that most (not all) vans were actually leaking from the front windshield seal . The seals shrink in the sun in Japan and do not seal to the body correctly . The leak can be cured by just sealing the windshield or in really bad cases a new seal is required . I have new seals in stock if anyones requires one .

another of the ubiquitous posts by Bruce the Good, AKA Mystery Machine. It includes wet floor fixing instructions that are so good even I could do it. I would add only one note to those instructions as follows:
DO NOT remove the screw that is under the windscreen rubber. Loosen it a turn or so only. The body panel will slide out from under it. If you do remove that screw, within an hour or so you will be inventing all sorts of colourful new epithets that you hope the neighbour kids won't learn, or if they do, you hope they don't tell mom where. If anyone is really stumped by those seized screws, and if you live in or near North Van, I have the impact tool. Works pretty good provided you haven't already converted those Reed and Prince heads into tube drives. I also have a lot of semi mastic body putty left if anyone wants to go whole hog on the whole repair thing. It has better gap filling properties and stays more flexible than tube goop over the long haul. I coatedthe area with with the tube goop (can't think of the name) then packed the gap with putty, then smeared goop over everything with the prescribed downward motion. Bob is my mother's brother.

About that ice on the floors thing, well, I've heard of ice and I understand that some people like it in their drinks but I'm unclear on why you would want to drink off the floor of your car.
