over 640,000 km's

My mechanic's neighbor has an 1985 Dodge pickup truck that he bought brand new.

It has the same engine as a Delica and Pajero.

I asked him about it and he said for the past twenty five years since owning it, he's put on over 640,000 km's mostly highway and only changed the timing belt three times, water pump once, alternator he lost count and still runs strong.

He now uses it as a farm truck hauling parts around his field.

It looks and sounds just like mine.

Amazing

Not mine. Buddy's neighbor's. Older dood owns it :-D

They look just like the 80/90's small pickups. Mazda/toyo/dodge/chev. they're all the same body style.

By any chance is it a dodge ram d50??

Aside from the mitsu mighty max, the ram d50 is supposedly another model very similar to my strada.

Wow. So you can order OEM parts like T-Belt, etc., for a 1985 D50 and they will all work? Thanks for pointing that out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Ram_50

The Dodge Ram 50 (called the D50 for 1979 and 1986) was a compact pickup truck produced by Mitsubishi Motors and sold by the Chrysler Corporation from 1979 to 1993.

the engine can't be identical as there is no 2.5L listed, unless they label them differently or something in Asia than in NA. probably some common parts though.

Engine is the same. :M

Head is different. 4D55T (dodge) to 4D56T (delica/pajero)

4D55 and 4D56 block and pistons/rings are the same
Con rods and crank are different.

The 4D55 and 4D56 will take the same glow plugs

4D55 Displacement - 2346 cc

4D56 Displacement - 2476 cc

like I said, not identical, good to know that it has many of the same parts though, would the IP be the same? timing belt, pulleys and the like?

I wasn't trying to say you where wrong, I was just adding a note so people didn't get the wrong idea and go start ordering parts for the D50 engine thinking they would all match up. the more that are the same the better, buying parts from lordco and the like is much easier, and if you can tell the mechanic that is afraid to touch a deli that the running gear is an 88 montero and the engine is a from D50 (mostly :)) that can make our lives easier too.

would be a great thing to have someone post in the wiki what parts are identical to the D50 engine. I would do it but I have no idea which parts are the same :)

is the block the same?? if so, then the belt idler positions most likely don't change leading to the same belts unless the idler diameters are different.

too many variables. but still interesting.
