And the saga continues...

not only am I looking for the "DOT / E3" certificate for the L300 headlights but I am also looking for the aircare certificate. I understand that we must make it through aircare with our vans too and usually (for every used vehicle I ever bought) I had a print-out of the previous reports results.

Again, sifting through my glove box on the weekend, I could not find an aircare report.

Will I get into trouble if they (the evil people that shoot and taser first before asking questions) want to see license and registration and I cannot produce an air care report?

Thanks for your feedback - I have to conclude that my wife is correct in calling me ignorant when it comes to issues such as paperwork....

aircare only has to do with getting icbc........after that you don't need to have it in your glove box..................i do believe

Air-care Not needed for the first year of a vehicle new to the lower mainland. So you wont have one yet. I got my aircare done last October (as I had had it a year by then). One fills up with Husky Mohawk super diesel, drives around the freeway at speed for half an hour then goes direct to testing place early in morning so not sitting idling in line ups. I passed with great statistics.

Some people say the test isnt accurate for diesels anyway. FYI, I had 25% WVO in also, no problem with reading.

Do make sure you know how to show them your 2 VIN plates (as they won't know where to look), tell them its a 2.4 litre engine, with turbo, as they had to key the specs in to the computer as not preprogrammed in the computer.

You need AirCare to renew insurance, but not for the first registration.

They only measure opacity on our diesels. The AirCare people (Charles Street, Vancouver) I took Gumdrop to knew where to look for the VIN, and knew all the relevant specs. YMMV.

My own 2 cents.... I was concerned about aircare myself as these are still fairly obscure vehicles BUT... when I went thru the Richmond aircare centre, the guy new EXACTLY where to look for the VIN - even told me my cover was missing. That certainly eased my stress as to whether or not it would be tested correctly knowing the guy was familiar with Delicas. Psssst.... it's beside your drivers seat...

As far as having an aircare certificate goes, it wouldn't be a problem as others have confirmed. Drivers from outside the Lower Mainland don't require aircare but they can still drive on our streets just the same. In the early days of aircare we used to be able to renew our insurance prior to aircare running out and thus gain an extra 11 or so months before having to re-test... obviously they got wise to that at some point or were just being lenient as we all drove Super Stink Pot cars. or bolted the biggest V8 into the smallest cars possible....

And just for the record Chris.... BAH... paperwork, shmaperwork........ she's not looking... right?

Don't lose the air care report. If you decide to sell your vehicle, the new owner would appreciate it.
