Anyone have any troubles traveling to the USA? Is it legal to drive a Japanese Delica in the USA?

i got a buddy in a hilux surf that goes down every months, no problems yet.

It's legal, lots of people here drive their delis in the US and Mexico - Though Sahdot was refused entry into the States 'cause of his subversive looking bus at one crossing out of Windsor last summer... That's the only one out of many trips I have heard of having an issue

No issues whatsoever. I've been to Seattle and Portland in Gumdrop. Zero official interest in either direction.

You can visit in any lawfully licensed and insured vehicle. If you want to bore people at parties, the relevant treaty is the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, to which both Canada and the U.S.A. are signatories. Countries can agree to waive certain requirements of the Convention, which is why we don't need the oval country stickers on our cars for travel to the U.S.A. and Mexico.

The only country ever mentioned that is not a signatory is the Peoples' Republic of China.

Actually, it's a passport or a piece of identification which is passport-like in its security (i.e. federal government issued) and/or in its identification of your nationality. That being said, there are a couple of issues with this whole border security: in neither Canada, nor the US do you have to 'prove' your identity (i.e. you don't have to carry 'papers'), as long as you identify yourself truthfully when asked (that being said, if you declare falsely, you can be charged with a crime, most especially when asked by a peace officer who has the blue light flickering behind them); and since none of the provinces (nor any of the States, except Washington and New York at this point and BC soon), are issuing any kind of paperwork which identifies the individual as a citizen of either respective country, the only piece of paperwork which identifies the nationality of an individual is ... wait for it ... a passport.

And this is when it gets fun: considering there are 30+millions of Canadians, and ten times that number of Americans, and considering that while less than half that number will ever require a passport in their lifetimes (either Canadian or American), this may be less than 10-15 million Canadians, however this is somewhere in the neighbourhood of 100-150 million Americans who will need a passport to get across the border.

And that's not coming north - that's for Americans to get back into their own country!

So, if you thought the lines at our passport offices were long...

Just went down with a Convoy of 12 Nissan Skylines, to the Big Nissan Meet..

no issues..

I have had more hassle driving back into Canada with with RHD..
