Safe Garage for Inspection in Campbell River?

I'm going to look at a Pajero at Tyee Imports this weekend in Campbell River, and phoned ahead to a BCAA approved shop there regarding a mechanical inspection. The guy at the shop told me that he did the inspection for free, and would do everything except the compression test since they weren't set up to do it. He said he wouldn't need to see my membership card. This guy guessed that I was shopping at Tyee and said he'd done several inspections there with no problems. Ok, sounds great, but why?!?

I've learned that almost nothing is for free, and BCAA charges $150-170 for an inspection in town. Why would this shop do it for free? Is it an unbiased inspection? Does anybody know any shops in Campbell River that are reputable for independent pre-sale inspections?

Maybe I'm being too skeptical here...

Closest shop that I’m aware of that is experienced with JDM’s is Reid’s Esso in Courtney. Haven't had Delica work done there, but they were great with other imports I brought in. Of course for things Delica a trip to Coombs counrty auto is a much better idea.

Trents Esso,
