What Would You Do?

So my deli is on its last legs, as my engine is on the way out. So i was wondering what others are would do in my situation?
-pay 4 grand to get a new engine installed
-pay 2 grand, make deli work for abit and sell it cheap
-sell it for parts individually
-sell it as a parts vehicle al together

and my next set of questions
-any one on here want to buy a parts vehicle
-i notice lots of delis online and in dealers lots, is any one buying them?
-any one have any interest in a 2 inch lifted 1992 low roof chamonix with slowly failing engine compression?

i was thinkin of trading mine in as a parts vehicle and get something new paying the difference, but i have a pretty sour taste in my mouth about delicas, and dont want to start from scratch again.

open to ideas, and especially offers!

So what makes you say your engine is on the way out? I think the details may help people give a more informed oppinion.

Sorry to hear of your plight btw :(

Has a qualified garage given you this diagnosis? What exactly is causing this slow death? How many kms are on your van? When you say new engine is that getting your engine rebuilt? What about picking up a good used engine and installing it yourself, or having it installed?

If you want a Delica then probably best to keep the one you've got, unless you're upgrading.....like to a fancy L400.
If you're "done" with Delica's then probably best to just sell it at a discounted price.

Just a few thoughts. Hope it all works out for you. As for me I'm keeping my Delica. It's the coolest vehicle in town! 8-)

Sorry to hear your troubles Patty. Have you had a chat with ccautos Glen? Give him a call. If anyone can help you it's him. I bet he has a good used motor, and you might find the problem is not so serious - it might be worth a trip to the Island. No shortage of delica friends to stay with while you wait for your bus... :M

Yes - more details about what makes you think your motor is poo'd would be good.
Best visit the boys at CVI or chat with CCAutos for some good advice first.
I thought mine was pretty "tired" but very happy now after an IP rebuild 6 months ago.
Still not a rocket ship by any stretch - but much improved performance overall and good enough for me.

Hey,
I agree with Konadog,Call CC Auto or take it to Butch at CVI.
Chatting with them will give you a ballbark of what you are looking at.

If you go with CC on the island you can even stay at my place if you want.
Might just be a tired Injector pump or something basic.

Hang in there :-)

If you go without a deli who will hassle people for their ladders?

hi guys, hes delica engine has a blow-by engine its a matter of time this engine will be gone. as i test this vehicle.
so kind of his situation hard to decide. no power & smoke a lot.timing is o.k. but no compression so in result of a blow by engine.
smoke really bad on the oil breather. if you do it short cut & just patch it & there wont last long. better get new used engine . rebuild expensive. main cause of this problem is the previuos owner maybe in japan dont do change oil all the time. as i know patrick do change the oil of his delica & maintain this delcia but unfortunately this sad thing happen. not much we can do. tough decision has to be made on his part.
so sad this thing happen.
cheers;

More HER-AYs for CVI!

so i decided to source a short block engine assembly from ccautos on the island for around $200 something shipped straight to CVI. then butch and the gang swapped it in for the wrecked parts on my engine. then ontop of that they did the timing belts, replaced all seals and just for some maintenance replaced the front outer tie rods. on the last day my deli was in the shop they let me buzz around the floor and showed me lots of stuff to prevent bad situation and just how to do what they were doing at the time.

now from start up too goin up hills my deek runs remarkably better. some say these things are slow but to me it feels like im rippen, after driving the last couple months at a max of 75km per hr blowing heeps of smoke. for those who saw my van at CVI at the show and tell i have now vacuumed it, washed the windows and cleaned off the outside lights (kept the other dirt on the outside cozz it looks wicked) and removed my slow up hills sign.

once i had the chance to look all around and under my deli, and had a qualified mechanic looking too we come to a conclusion that i definitely bought a lemon as i still have much work to do in the future. im just happy that there is sucha great shop to go to for help!

THANKS CVI FOR ALL THE HELP!

on top of that, my dad actually did the same thing to his chevy truck at the same time. i found my replacement engine and parts with a willing shop within hours, it took him 3 weeks and my job came out cheaper then his is gonna be.

moral of the story, any one who says you'll never get work or parts for that thing, you should have bought domestic is an ass.
