Hi all, great forum you have here!
I have been eyebaling the Delica since I move to Calgary. I saw a few here for the first time and fell in love with them right away!
Now I am in the market for a new vehicle (new to me) and really leaning towards the Delica and for the price they seem to really have a lot of cool options.
I was prepared to buy an L300, but now with the newer L400 available, I am bit confused on the best/most reliable version.
Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Rob

L300 looks way better, L400 is probably the best bet for reliability. But it all would depend on the condition of that vehicle. Mostly, as with anything, it would just come down to personal preference.

L400 is probably the best bet for reliability.
According to more experienced members who dealt with both models it is 100% opposite.

Often with a newly redesigned model the first couple model years have issues. The VW Passat is a prime example of this.

what I got from the various threads about this is that is is about 50% opposite, as in some stuff is more reliable on one and some on the other, 6 of one type of thing, and as with the 300 if you do the proper preventative work the L400 will serve you just as well. But maybe that is what I took out of it because I like them?

I would agree with Profister. L-400 has it`s issues & quite a lot. We have thousands L-400 in Vladivostok since 1998.

In the end I think it all comes down to a matter of taste.
I believe humans tend to like (and promote) what they have and know (which is probably why the North American car manufacturers haven't gone down the drain much earlier already). So if I had an L400 I'd very likely be endorsing that model... and as I have an L300 I am leaning towards that one (although I must admit that have never had the "pleasure" of driving an L400.)
However, if I were "a new guy", walking onto a dealers lot and had the choice of an L300 vs. an L400 I'd go for the L300 because I just like the rugged, non nonsense design of it.
I always lean towards the slightly less sophisticated, slightly more odd looking, more unconventional and more unique stuff (which is why I like 8-Track players and rotary telephones).
I wish they had made the L300 with the more gutsy 2.8L motor of the L400.... This combo would be the best
Anyway, that's my little story and I'm sticking to it....
Cheers, Chris

If you guys need more power for your Delica L300s, wait til I get the Propane Injection kits installed. Just like N02(Nitrous Oxide) for a gas vehicle..
