Gas in the Diesel Tank.....always a smart move

So imagine you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer,

...la de da....

Oh look, a fuel pump. How lovely.

lets start putting gasoline in my deisel deli, what a great idea!

...yeh.

So while having a conversation at my cardlock i managed to put in 2.75 litres of gas in to my deisel deli tank (75 litre capacity).

After cursing for a spell we concluded that the amount was likely of no consequence to the engine but not sure about the other components, sensors and who knows what else.

This may be more thinking what works in my mind rather than reality (cognitive dissinence-a great concept to explore by the way)

Any Ideas about this?

My plan so far ?- The solution to pollution is dilution.

Am i crazy?

In my opinion the dillution solution will work due to the little amount that was put in the tank. Don't hold me responsible for anything, but I feel confident in my opinion.

Cheers.

Ditto. Maybe a can of diesel conditioner or a gallon of new Canola oil to reduce any solvent affects and provide lubricity. But your less than 4% mix of gas/diesel, assuming you topped up with dino juice, shouldn't bother your van; was it B5 or B20 that you filled up with after your '$h!T' moment? That would be a factor in a 15 year old vehicle.

Best Regards
-always been crazy, it keeps me from going insane.

I filled up on straight Diesel and have since been topping up often.

Went out on a all day 4x4 jaunt down the beach yesterday without issue. New 31x10.5 r15 tires made it a new machine....

Thanks for the feedback folks

We used to run upto 10% gas in with the diesel in cold prairie winters in Military vehicles (M113a2 Armoured Personnel carrier) with no ill effects. So I'd say your safe.
