Well I think this morning has sealed the deal for me. I am giving up on the Delica wave

. I have been denied to many times in the last few months to continue.
Have other noticed this too? Is there just too many of us now...novelty worn off?

Between riding the MC & driving the Delica or Westy I think I'm getting RSI of the wrist...

I sometimes wonder.
The last "Delica Wave" I got wasn't from a Delica at all, but from an Aristo, Saturday afternoon.

Some people just think that we are nuts to be part of this community !! I have asked a few delica owners that i have run into if they have been on this forum and they look at me like i have two heads....... Which leads me to my point about the delica wave......... Maybe we are just dorky !!
Sometimes i think people are just blind and not paying attention to everything around them.At least that is what i tell myself when i wave and smile and get no response.
Hell ,have you ever tried waving to a toyota hilux guy ?? I was sitting right beside one going down bridgeport road the other day and he would not even entertain the idea of a polite head nod !!!!!
water over a ducks back i say !!
cheers isaac

The wave will only die if we let it. I wave regardless of whether or not the other person sees me. Dorky?... maybe, but also a sense of community - something that is seriously lacking in society today. I know, a can of worms there but really... why not wave? I takes no effort whatsoever.
I say... lead by example! We acknowledge each other online so why not in public?
Jesse and the Turtle machine even waved from the curb lane of Oak St in the opposite direction last week before he was obscured by other vehicles - now THAT Deli stands out in a crowd!
Cheers all!

Hell, I wave even when I'm driving my Elf. So, if you see a white Isuzu Elf waving... I wish I had a ticker saying "My other vehicle is a Delica".
LOL

I call it my "JDM wave" and I get a pretty good return rate. Of course, what with the high concentration of RHD vehicles in Victoria, there is almost a sense of the commonplace beginning to encroach on the group.
For me, I won't let that malaise affect me. I'm still quite passionate about my Delica - just ask me!

Whenever I am driving my Delica I wave at all RHD vehicles, when I'm not driving the Delica I give them all a thumbs up. I often get at least a smile in return, and sometimes even a wave, but not always.
As pointed out though, it will only die if we let it.
As for "too common", watch motorcycles, there are more of them than of us (I think...) and they still all seem to wave at each other.... don't let the popularity of RHD be it's undoing, let us instead make the community stronger.

I wave and/or flash the highbeam at every delica I see... I also wave at other righthand-drive cars out there...
My company vehicle is a Chrysler 300... hell, I even wave at Delica's when I'm driving the Chrysler (and then remember that I am in the wrong car...) although with the Chrysler I am not surprised that nobody waves back....
But it is true that often, Delica people don't wave back....
In any case, I keep on waving.... Do the same thing with the motorcycle... always a quick wave... doesn't cost a thing...
Cheers,
Chris

We always wave - at all the RHD's too - Always will - it's part of the fun of owning such a specialty vehicle. If others don't return the gesture, oh well...

I waved to a 20yearoldsomething in a skyline last year sometime in the summer.
He gave me the 1-finger salute.
Not even a few mins later, I saw him in my rearview mirror.
As I was heading up a nice hill, I let our Delica fart with epic proportions.
I think he was about to say something wonderful, but since his mouth was open, he chose to shut it.
Delica farting n' all.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I used to ride a yamaha scooter till it got stolen. I felt a little silly waving at big mustachioed Harley riders. But I always gave the nod. Even if they disapproved of my ride. Even though I dont have a deli yet, when I'm rolling around in Abbbotsford here in my dump truck, I want to wave at the delicas I see. But I don't. But I think about it.
