I wondered if anyone had encountered this or had an idea of what I might be hearing. When I go around a tight corner (right or left)
with my suspension off camber (very rough roads where I live) I get a noticable clunking in the rear of the van. This happens most
loudly when I am on the power and the drive line is under load. The van has no rear stabilizers and all the visible suspension seems
in good shape. Nothing loose or missing. Are the differentials in these vans prone to trouble?

I had a clunk in the rear, turned out to be one of my shocks had sheared the pin off the bottom end.

My first guess would be suspension - but I would first rule out random things like shifting spare wheel, jack moving around or maybe even your rear bench. Sometimes my rear hatch doesn't close properly and that makes noise as well... good luck.

Or you could just be bottoming out and hitting the bump stops.

sometimes my jack if not put in the cubby just right can move around, check that as it's free :)

Clunks from the rear are NOT common, based on our many local off-road treks with other local deli owners. I would suggest a thorough check up ( CVI in Richmond or CC Autos in Coombs). Have you done the 11 point lube on the undercarriage? Christine.

If you have an after market exhaust pipe they can vibrate against the frame and cause noises. Good luck finding your issue.

I've had 2 rear clunks, 1 was the tailgate (I've since tightened the latch bar) and the other was a loose spare tire, tightened that up too, and now it's relatively quiet back there.

I had an annoying noise when I turned corners from the rear. TOok a month to figure out, tuned out to be a small rack jammed between the spring and the bracket.

This doesn't sound like what I've had but ... if it only happens occasionally, and goes away by itself ... it could be the sliding door. Sometimes, although it appears to be fully closed, and the ceiling lights are out, it appears that it isn't really fully latched, and you hear clunking noises from the rear when you go over a bump. It goes away the next time you open and close the door.

It's happened to me 3 times now, so I'm pretty sure that is the effect & cause. Drove me nuts trying to figure out.
