quoting a fella named Carnage:

"Head out to the hwy. All the rhd vehicles are in the left lane. I have driven many rhd's, you can't see to pass in the proper lane.

The cheap prices do seem to be the driving force behind the rising sales of these vehicles. This causes a lot of service issues. Despite rantings to the contrary the cars are here because they are too expensive to bring up to japans "shaken"(warrant of fitness for road use) standard. It's cheaper and carries more status to buy a new car than bring an old one up to standard. Stating that there is no age restriction on vehicles in japan is true, its just that nobody fixes the old cars. They send them over here. You don't see a flood of rhd cars from anywhere else .... do you?"

i realize this guy may be a "troll", with some contentious assertions, but do any owners out there care to comment on this stuff?

We have had ours for 10 days only. It has perfect visibility, much better than our Mazda3 and we have been on the freeway in the correct lane. Passing is not a problem. No issue for us.

What he says about the cars not being up to Japan's standard is true for the most part but if we were held to Japan's standards then almost every North American vehicle that is older than 5 years wouldn't be allowed on the road or would be too costly to fix and register by Japan's standard. As for RHD passing not really an issue for the SUV or Delica crowd, RHD sports cars seems to be a little more challenging but heres a thought maybe we should ban 18 wheeler trucks as they impair my vision when they are in front of me.

FWIW, Gumdrop would have needed new tires to pass her 2007 Shaken. That's all.
