Hey folks! I have a 91 Exceed, 5-speed. I was wondering if anybody new the life expectancy, of the timing belts on the 300 series wagons? Also what the common signs of a warn one are? I have a 2500 trb dsl. I appreciate any feedback.
Cheers!

I would concure on the belt kms and date. Just because a vehicles has less kms, it still has to be 15+ years old so save a major headache before too long. Interference engines don't like it!
See other posts on timing belts but suffice it to say here that MM in Nanaimo sell them (plus all the tensioners, seals etc.) at ~$72 for the belt. They might be able to help you out if you don't have a manual. I found them to be equivalent to $25CAN in NZ of which you could probably expect to add $10 for duty and shipping besides the several weeks wait. MM in Nanaimo sounds pretty fair.

Brake Rotors, Timing Belts etc

Hi, we just imported a '91 Exceed. I took a rotor to Napa and they matched it up with those from an 89-91 Mitsubishi Montero. Same goes for the calipers and pads. 70 bucks each for the rotors. The timing belt change interval from what I can glean is 60,000 kms. Now could someone please help me with a source for the timing belt and tensioner, the balance belt and tensioner, 3 seals, and the fuel and air filters? Dont ask for much do I!

I got a hold of the mits guy in Nanaimo, and those are some expensive parts.

Congrats Pete and Jackie,
Try a Luber-finer (LAF222 @ $24) air filter, L-F FP941F fuel filter, L-F LFP805 oil filter, haven't found anthing cheaper then the $75 MM timing belt.
What color is your Delica? We get over that way frequently and haven't seen a Delica in Courtenay/Comox area yet, is there others around?

Thanks Kev, That was not the same price I got from MM. I'll try again. I also think that like the brake rotors, to take the offending part to your parts guy and start searching. If everybody does it and shares it, We'll have these babies sussed within a year!
Ours is silver and black, has a flat top and a gaggle of humanity crowded around it trying to find where the steering wheel is.
