it's more trouble than it's worth, that is the impression I've gotten, it's tied into the AC system, I believe the question has been asked before. it the very least there is a post on what it takes to remove one, and it that seemed like a huge pain.

I'm pretty sure I read on the ccautos used Delica parts PDF that they have a kit that contains all the cool box bits. Not sure on the price or how much fun it would be to install.

they do sell them, I'm pretty sure adding it all to a van that didn't have it in the first place it more complicated than just bolting it in, but hey, go for it :)

The A/C runs through the cool-box, there is no way to install or remove it without draining and recharging the A/C system (something that legally needs to be done by a professional, venting it in to the atmosphere is very bad)
beyond that, I doubt it's "simple" but I'm sure it's possible, it will require running A/C lines in to it, as well as adding the relay controls behind it, and the wiring to the A/C system... not simple, but if you're ambitious enough...

might be easier to sell your vehicle and buy one with the cool-box though, I know many people would prefer one without.

Thanks or the info, I had NO IDEA it was such an extensive addition! I figured it was simply a wire-in addition!

I guess a good ol' fashioned cooler n' ice will have to keep the road pops icy!

Cheers!

You can get 12 volt coolers that just plug into your cig lighter.
