Just got this in my email:

Don't pump gas on May 15th

In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of

gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in
protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in a lot of
places ($1.27 a liter) in Vancouver.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
network, and the average car takes about 50 to 80 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil company's
pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on.
The oil companies are making record profits, they each made over 3
billion in the first quarter of 2007.

If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to your
entire contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th.
Thought it was worth sharing.

Cheers.

their math is severly flawed... they count on all 73 million people filling up every second day... (or half of them filling up every day...)

that said... it would be nice to do SOMETHING about the gouging at the pumps... Study came out this week saying that pump prices are currently 15c/L above what can be accounted for by costs even when taking in to account historical petroleum industry profit margins.... in other words, someone along the chain has gotten 15c/L greedier....

Don`t buy gas

Here's an interesting site offering a Gasoline Price Gouge Meter:

Keep in mind the CBC claims that the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is a left leaning insitution, but at least they're not the Fraser Institute :-) http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/shared/re ... =pb&id=558
