EDIT: FINAL Location is now Nahatlach Lake, as of Friday 23Oct09 2:30pm, per Delicat.
Delicat says: "contacted Tardis, Pedro, Falco and Jaz; they're all fine, will contact Fexlboi tonight after work in case he doesn't read the latest post. And Pedro is coming with his shaggy wagon... no bike. Meeting is same time/place 9am IKEA Coq. from where we'll head to the Blue Moon Cafe in Hope (in front of City Hall on the main street) and finally meet Pedro in Boston Bar between 11am and noon. The rest on the weekend, well, gotta join us to find out!"

Christine adds "I am busy baking cookies, hope Jay leaves a few for the weeknd! C U there!"

ORIGINAL POST:
Hello All Campers, or just Day Trippers ... Pajero's, Delica's, even Toyota's, all welcome, 4x4 preferred but hardy 2 wheel drives OK.

Everyone must come camping this weekend, so start packing now.
Various Reasons:
It is not snowing yet,
The campfire ban is over so we can roast ourselves by the campfire,
We havent been camping in ages,
And...Delicat Returns this weekend so we will greet him after his many months away from BC.

Dates: Meet Saturday Day to socialize and camp on Saturday night, returning Sunday. Oct 24+25 2009. Suitable for those only wanting Saturday long day trip.

Convoy: departs IKEA Coquitlam at 9:05am.
Diesel fuel stop in Chilliwack at the Shell at exit 116, Lickman Road, just north of the freeway, pay in cash for super-duper discount, usually 10 cents cheaper than Vanouver, TIME approx 10:15

IKEA MeetUp: giving you time to run in and get your breakfast for $1.00 to eat on the road (scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages on a paper plate for $1, 2 orders will fill you up. Then stop at the IKEA bistro for cinnamon buns and coffee, and also buy some frozen IKEA salmon and potato for dinner, and miraculously your cooking is done ... maybe buy a spare breakfast to keep for sunday morning camping, hmmm.

Location: Hope-ish area, will be a low-cost camp such as Forestry site with limited facilites, so bring your own toilet paper and shovel. Possibly near the Coqhihalla or towards Princeton. Will decide exact location by Wednesday night, I have a couple sites in mind, any other ideas welcome.

RAIN or SHINE, We are a Go! We will big tarps to cover the communal area. Bring 2 milk crates of firewood per person for the communal fire, we bring hand saws to cut up wood, so go hunt local construction sites or old tree branches left from last years storms.

4x4 off-roading: those who want to get some rough stuff can join Delicat who has been in 4x4 withdrawal, while those like me who prefer to sit by the fire can, the actual road to the camp site will be flat gravel.

BRING: your own water jugs, your own cooking source (in case the campfire isnt hot enuf to cook on), stories for the campfire, munchies to share with others (Ikea chocolate bars and cookies). Bring lotsa warm clothes, a wool or fleece toque, especially a blanket or those flexible foil windshield sun protectors for the car to wrap around you for sitting by the campfire at night. Chairs for by campfire, and a golf umbrella if it is raining while you sit by the fire, folding table if you need. If you dont have sleeping bags: the mattress from a folding sofa and heaps of bedding duvets under and over you will suffice for one night. If you havent been with the group before: very-well behaved pets OK must be on leash, children welcome, alcohol OK (but no stupid drinking as no first-aid supplies are wasted on alcohol-ers).

Cheers, Christine and Jay...remember munchies are the best way to say thanks for organizing this.

I'm keen, but Nat just bought a new industrial sewing machine, so it will be a battle in the trenches to see if I can drag her away... Might just be me in the "even Toyota"...

Jesse, pending the outcome of the battles, whether the war is won or lost, there may be a spare seat in Rusty, but I won't be able to confirm till later in the week when the fog settles... sorry!

In order to add more ammo to the battle cache - will Maceo be able to make it along?

I'm quite enjoying the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants way of thinking.

It won't last long as I am not single. :-D

Jesse: It's quite easy to delude yourself into that way of thought occasionally, but typically it's quite a sudden jolt when you land back on earth again!

I'm really looking forward to this weekend!

Ahhhh, camping again with fellows Delica!

Any hot spings we could hit along the way? Always nice to have a nice hot bath but not a must, mud on the other hand...

Thanks Christine for organizing this!

Wow, great response already, gonna be a fun weekend. Not sure about a hotspring for David but a toasty campfire is even better. New members welcome, and all vehicles regardless of left or The Right steering wheel, and this is an easy camping trip, so come and meet us even just for the day! Do i need to bribe with Rice Crispi squares? Cheers, Christine.

I appreciate the personal invitations from Delicat, TardisDeli and FalcoColumbarius and I will try to make it happen but I need to talk to the Boss at home who is going to work at 7 AM on Sunday and will need a ride aside from a political prospective.
BTW the weather forecast is really bad.

Does it really matter for Delica camping? :)

Hey Pedro, hope you make it, you'll win for furthest miles driven to meet up (coming from Williams Lake). If you drive yr motorbike, we can pack a tent and sleeping bag & pillow for you, and you can share our kitchen and food (you can wash the dishes in exchange).

Cheers, Christine.

Maggie and I are coming but there is no way we can meet at IKEA at 09:05, as I have some things to do in the morning, such as banking. I talked to Delicat ~ he's going to be home for dinner on Thursday night. If we are going out to the Hope area ~ then I would consider Profister's idea of camping at Nahatlatch, which is roughly 45 minutes from Boston Bar on the west side of the river. Nahatlatch is a very beautiful lake, easy to access and surrounded by lot's of 4x4 options. There is also a great cafe in Hope called "The Blue Moose" which would make for a good pit stop and meeting place for late comers such as myself.

As far as hot springs are concerned, Harrison comes to mind. Typically we go up the Weaver Creek Road but there is an east side of Harrison Lake that also has hot springs ~ new ground for many.

Just a couple of ideas.

Falco.

This is what Falco is referring to:
http://www.delica.ca/forum/profister-s- ... -3900.html
Now quoting Jaz on the above link: :-)
Count us in for next year's trip please, looks like a fantastic place :)
and this was Delicat:
Any interest to try that drive (and camping) from Kwoiek to Lytton ferry or the area on the Nov. 1st weekend?
To both Jrman and Delicat: we did it this summer and it was so bad that I do not want to do it again.
This is how it looked like 10 days ago:
http://picasaweb.google.ca/profister/Th ... directlink
It is an easy drive but there are some tough roads fro those looking for an adventure. Also there is a road connecting Nahatlatch with Harrison HS and I never tried it.
Blue Moose cafe is really good for a morning coffee pit stop; we do it on every occasion.

Cheers,
Sergiy.

PS. Sorry for the misspelled holiday but I do not want to correct it now, this would break the link for other recipients.

This would be so much fun. Unfortunately I am way too busy to consider it, and won't have time to get all prepared since I'm just getting my Space Gear today.

Count me in for some spring time camping for sure though!

Shane

PS, anyone else out there have rugrats that they drag along for these camping trips?
