i just recieved my 94 L400 and i noticed that when i really put my foot into it there is a hiss sound and it will not keep accelerating .
lets just get one thing strait i am not trying to launch or jump or do anything to crazy.
I just want to test it and this is the first thing that i have noticed .. is there a limiter on it? if so .. where and how do i bypass it.. or is it a chip thing. thanks

hiss sound? could possibly be the turbo waste-gate stuck open...

what is the top speed for a auto
off the line it is good but putting it on the floor from 80km just seems like it starts to hiss

I've had my 94 LWB super exceed up to 145km while passing, felt like it would go faster, but my wife wasn't as enthusiastic as the kids. I'll have to try it out while the hwys are still nice and clear. (can't say I hear any hissing noises, but my wife says I'm not a good listener) I would check for an air leak some where between the turbo and intake manifold. Possibly a pin hole in one of the rubber hoses, or a hole rubbed in the intercooler. My van has way more power than what I had expected. It will lay rubber for about 20 ft from a dead stop. That seems crazy for a 2.8l diesel in a five thousand pound vehicle. (it is kinda fun to act like a 16 year old again)

I suspect the hiss isn't natural, if your turbo waste gate is stuck open, you'll be loosing a lot of power
Top speed is well over 120, but who knows where...

top speed should be around 130-145km per hour.
how is your speed, power on uphill?
any difference?
