Seriously, starting to wonder how else I can get
my significant other mad at me.
I can feel my blood pressure starting to rise as I
wonder what now.

Noticed when I got home a bit of a leak.
Coming from the other side of the motor under the
passenger side. Got under and had a look with a
flashlight. Definitely not being routed around from
my block heater. Couldn't seem to see a source.
Then got into the front from above.
Took the top of the timing belt cover off and still
didn't notice anything wet in there. Figured that
if something was leaking it would cover most
of the stuff in there. (hoping)

Then noticed a wet spot near the bottom of the
V where the timing belt covers at the bottom are.
(Not inside, I couldn't see anything wet there)
but under the timing belt cover on the casing.
Question is, where is the water pump in relation
to all the internals around the timing belt stuff.
Not saying it's coming from inside but I can't see
anything else around there just yet.

If it was leaking don't you think it would get splashed
around a bit? I did get a new pump in there last spring.

The leak stopped when the motor stopped running.
I had it running initially, then turned it off and the drip
stopped after a minute.

Okay, I don't know what I was smoking when I was looking at the leak
Glad I don't smoke.
Anyway it isn't antifreeze. It's diesel. It was dark.. and
I didn't try to smell it last night. This morning it looks like it's
coming from a pump? or something.
I took a picture. It seems like there is a small access panel
gasket or something and it's coming from there.
D-32-53 it says on it.

On the picture red is the unit and pink is leak.

Whatcha think... what is it? Change a gasket?
Then screw 2 bolts back in? Do I have to worry about
air in the system?

I understand the frustration of leaking vehicles.

It's VERY common for the IP seals to leak.

Our sulfur diesel will cause that.

There are MANY threads about diesel leaks and 99% of them are IP seals leaking. I suggest a quick search in the future.

Possible quick fixes :

Pick up a bit of Canola oil from the supermarket and pour in a few liters on your next tank.

That may or may not revive the IP seals enough to expand and stop the diesel from seeping out.

If that does not work, then a rebuild is in order.

depends on your definition of costly, I seem to remember that CVI charges about $500 or so for replacing the pump seals...

Costly for me is anything over $10

Is it possible that it's just that cover seal?

O-rings on the sides are most common.

So far on my Delica cheap is anything under $1000

Too funny.
So I decided I had 2 hours to fix this.
Checked the Zexel schematic for the pump.
Found for sure that it was an actual oring not
a weird gasket.
Drove over to bearing and transmission since they
have tons of different things there.
Removed the side plate, took out the oring
and got some from B&T that matched.
Then put it back in.
No leaks.. however in my haste
At home
I realized I got turned around from looking underneath
and replaced the seal on the wrong side. LOL
<sigh>
The Zexel diagram shows the same orings are used
on both sides. This side is however, tougher to get at.
Thank goodness I don't have an auto tranny or I wouldn't
be getting in there at all. In the mean time i snugged
that side up, put some veggie oil and stop leak in to the
fuel tank and it's idling. The leak has diminished
by over 3/4 and maybe it will disappear before I fix
it tomorrow. Im thinking maybe this will be a good preventative
thing for the other notsoeasy to get at orings and seals.

I changed the oring on the other side.
Finally no leaks. It had pretty much stopped
itself but all in all it's good.
