Well... as with all things Delica, one royal is not always like another (I have yet to see 2 identical delicas, regardless of model or trim level... just too many options!)
Compared to your royal exceed, mine has a few differences:
- Instead of your "curb guide" fixed parking pole, I have the retractable version (descends into the bumper when not in use)
- my fog and spot lights are obviously different (my fogs block where your spots are, however I do have spots mounted higher up and more centred)
- I'm not convinced that I have heated seats (Mardy said it should, however the place where the switches should be is blocked by an aftermarket tray of some form, which I doubt would have been placed there if people wanted to use the switches (I'll know for sure once I pick it up))
you can see the lighting differences, and the retractable parking pole in this photo:

I like the retractable pole.
I checked and heated seats are stock so yours should have them.

is royal exceed avaliable in SWB? I don't thinK I have see on that wasn't LWB.
on the plus side I have seen a
SWB super exceed with most of those option but the heated seats, light switches and the karaoke. I could do without either, the heated seats would be cool and if determined enough could likely be installed after the fact provided you could get the seats and switches from another van. I have heard about people putting the pay air ride seats in these too, are the stock L400 seats height adjustable?

Here's why I question the heated seats, now it's possible the switches are behind that console, or have been moved somewhere, but it they are in the stock location they aren't readily accessible it appears.

I have been doing some Tweeking on my Royal and decided that I could do with out the gimble/ tilt. on the left of the pod, so I Put my Pyrometer there, I might do the same with the matching autometer voltage gauge as I like the look of them, but will keep the center one as it looks good and has some real function with the temp built in.
I knocked off about a dozen EGR blanking plates both in Steel and Aluminium for the intake hole and the exhaust port, some of the exhaust ones have the bung/nut welded to the plate to drop a pyrometer in it , the one in the picture is now installed on my Royal.
Its a very easy install under 30 min, but should be done at the end of the day so you can make sure the copper gasket goo has over night to cure and the rtv for the intake side also cures
DONT use the COPPER goo on your aluminium. they dont get along well with each other.

G'day.. Yes the Royals are very nice but not many of them around. They are all LWB. The Super Exceeds are much more common and have almost as many options. My wife had a LWB Super for a few years. We sold it a while back because we didn't need 2 Delicas any more as our children have grown up and have their own cars. About the only thing that a Royal has that a well optioned Super doesn't is the extra speakers , different carpet and the heated seats although some Supers have these as well. It would seem that Mits in Japan will give you whatever you want. The wiring looms in almost all models have the connections for every possible option so that they can add what ever you want. I would not be passing up an nice Super so I could wait for a Royal.
My advise when buying is don't settle for the low spec models like Exceeds etc. There are so many Supers etc which only cost a few $$ more in Japan and by the time you do all the stuff you have to do to get one on the road in Canada you may as well do it to a high spec model. I didn't realize you drove on the right hand side of the road. I know they did in the states but i hadn't realy thought about it I guess. I know how much drama there is in converting American cars like Mustangs etc to right hand drive and I am amazed that you guys go to all that trouble for a Delica. Over here only collectors items like Mustangs, Corvetes, Comaros etc get conversions done. There would be very few Delicas here if that was required. We certainly wouldn't do it to a 15 year old L300. Mits released an Australin version of the Delica called a Starwagon 4x4 with the 2.4 liter petrol engine. All in manual, all SWB with low roof and no diesels. I had 4 of them before I started on the L400s. Cheers..

We don't. there is nothing wrong with driving a right hand drive vehicle on the right side of the road, in fact it has many safety advantages. The only major modification we make is to replace the headlights so we don't blind oncoming traffic, beyond that there are some minor compliance issues (we must add daytime running lights, side reflectors, and side marker lights) but nothing major is required to make these vehicles fully compliant with Canadian standards.
As for what vehicle to get, the options for 15 year old vehicles in good condition from Japan are limited, 15 is an old vehicle over there... but that said, when you compare all the costs involved in the process, the difference between buying one model or the next is a fairly minor change, so if you have your heart set on something, and can wait for it, the cost won't be much more, so you might as well be patient.
We get Delicas because nobody in North America makes anything even remotely similar, and the options available are at least 20 years behind that available on Japanese vehicles.

Nothing new here, as I said earlier, I have yet to see 2 identical Delicas, regardless of L300/L400/chamonix/jasper/glx/exceed/super/royal/whatever
There are so many options available, and so much flexibility from Mitsubishi in Japan, and you add to that 15 years of owner modifications since the initial purchase, and it's truly astonishing the number of variations available.
Personally I suspect that the spots that jfrsang has on his vehicle were an option mine didn't come with, however the owner added his own later higher up, however the "carrying handle" bull-bar addition is an option that jfrsang's vehicle didn't have either, so who knows.
The other option is that I had the factory spots buried behind the fogs (that have been moved to cover them) and aftermarket ones added later
Either way, it's always exciting to see what other Delicas have in the way of options and features, it gives us ideas as to what works best, and what modifications we want to make for ourselves.

Just curious which is the original configuration....? Let us know more when you get your ride.

Original configuration is the one that I posted.
The lamps themselves could have been changed later down the road.
The stainless clamps that hold the fogs on have the Mitsubishi emblem on them. The fogs are towards the middle which allow the small pencil beam lenses that are tucked inside that round cutout in the bumper to shine on the road.
In Green1's shot, the fogs (yellow) are placed directly in front of the area where the small factory pencil beam lights are located inside the bumper.

I have to disagree on that, I have seen many an L400 pictured with their fogs exactly where mine are, and in fact, every picture I've ever seen on an L400 indicates that where your spots are, is not normally a light at all (though I have seen people modify their vehicle to fit lights in that location)
I should note, that I just looked at Brave Auto's website, and I notice that not one of the L400s shown has the fogs mounted where yours are, one has them mounted as mine, and the others that have them actually have them mounted inboard of the plastic bits. in fact I also checked out Mardy's site and he has 5 shown with lights mounted like mine, and none like yours.
I'm willing to bet that someone in the past slid your fogs inwards and added spots in the bumper (possibly had separate spots inboard before?)
you can see the "stripped" version here with no lights at all:

I enjoy this type of 'arguing'

You know, the one's where you talk about cool things.
