Another source for wet floors + a dumb moment!

I am not sure if this has been posted or not. In case not, I was getting a significant amount of water on the drivers side floor. I checked the usually suspect of the front panel seams and windshield seals and they were not the issue. I then noticed that my driver's side wiper arm was loose. Loose enough to let water in. I tightened it up and the water leak is gone.

One caution though. Be very careful (unlike me) when cranking down on the nut that pushes the arm onto the spline. The spline will shear off which is what happened to me, now I have a waaaay bigger problem on my hands. Bit of a loser moment to say the least! My future holds me removing the dash to get at the back of the wiper assembly and trying to track down a replacement part. Luckily the arm is staying on so far but I don't think it will for long.

On the subject of leaks, I also found the windshield washer jets leak at the base where it meets the seal that goes on the body. A bead of black silicone sealant works well. Also, the gutter on the driver side where it meets the winshield. I found a seam there where the original seam sealer was cracked and letting water in a small hole between the layers of body panel. You'll know its that spot if you get water dripping from your "Oh-crap" handle on the driver's door pillar.

Cheers,
