Hey everyone! My name's John and I live in Washington, USA. I discovered the Delica this morning while searching for parts for my Trooper project. 8 hrs of research later, I realized 2 things:
I am INFATUATED with the Delica
and
I MUST become one of the few and proud owners!!
I have to tip my hat and send many thanks to everyone who posts on this board as you all seem to be a friendly and wholly knowledgeable lot! At present, I am stuck with my 95 GMC Jimmy which I like, but it is time for me to get back to a vehicle I LOVE.
Please feel free to hit me up, ask questions, or poke me in the eye with a sharp stick. (Just seeing if you're paying attention)
John

Hey,
Welcome to the forum!
The current import laws for the US of A require the vehicles
To be 25 yrs old. You should check this out yourself too,
To make sure.
I do know of one Legal L300 that is also LHD it's
A conversion of a north american gasoline L300,
Which were available in the u.s. Same body but different
Drivetrain (no 4x4) initially. They were low roof and some
Had really sweet sunroofs.
The conversion is very well done (so far) and will not be
Cheap but it would have no problem with american citezenship.
Feel free to PM me if you want his contact info.
Right ON!

I REALLY appreciate the info and the welcome. I think I'm going to (try) to track down import specifics as it seems there would be a massive market here in the US should a method be found.
Again thanks!!

I'll give my usual note to all the US visitors, and we've had quite a few...
I wish you the best of luck in your importing endeavours, and hope that if you do find a way you let us all know what it is as this is a very common question. However, I have given this same message to many a US resident, and none have ever reported back with any success.
The closest we have seen to a solution for the US market is to buy a mitsubishi vanwagon in the US, these were sold in about 1990 and are left hand drive, 2 wheel drive, gasoline powered, stripped down with very few options.... from there, you can import all the "parts" to make a delica. This would be extremely expensive, very time consuming, and require a TON of effort.
The other solution is to overthrow your government and institute one that is by the people, and for the people, instead of the one you currently have which is by the corporations, and for the corporations... again, if you figure out how to do this, please let us know, as we desperately need to do the same up here.

Ha ha ha..Green1 - you get the golden turd award for most humourous (notice the Canuckian spelling) award this month re changes to governments attitudes vis-a-vis corporations required both north and south!....Oh, and I'm not being sarcastic for the record....love it fully and agree!!!!
Cheers,
SS

Are you looking to do a 1-off import or make a business of it?

Green1: Hmmmm Seriously considered the "Coup" route but I don't think it would go well on my record. (federal employee) So, I may have to instead overthrow a large corporation. (It's easier than getting elected)
wetcoast: I'm looking for a one-off import. If I can then help others, GREAT!! But I already have my dream job of-sorts, plus I own a cafe in Florida so another business venture would be a stretch. Trying to Keep It Simple for the time being.
