mileage question

I have been perusing the site, and don't see anything about this, so here goes...

What kind of mileage are you getting? I got my (new) 91 deli a month ago, and seem to be getting about 18-20 mpg. Is this average, above or below? I kind of thought I'd do better than that, as most of my driving is highway. (The van knows its own way to Campbell River and back already).

Last I checked I'm getting around 23mpg or 12L/100km. Mostly city driving. I'm keeping track because I'm driving to Nova Scotia inJuly and am trying to budget as best as I can.

cheers

I can usually squeeze 600km out of a tank, and then put in around 65L
City driving will drop it a bit more.

best I've done is 24 m/g (thats 29 us) or 8.5 k/litre - thats sedate driving well under 3000 rpm - 80-90k/hr. If I keep it under 3000 rpm (100-110k) I average around 22.

Hmmm-so that 30- 35 MPG posting that a lot of the dealers do is a lot of crap then. Not that it matters much, Delis seem to get better mileage than my old '88 3.0L Toyota (about 450KM out of a 50L gasoline tank),plus they look so much cooler! 8)

only once did I get over 500 kilometers to a full tank. I have a big roof rack, drive over 100 kmh and its always windy here...

average is around 420 klms to a fillup. I find this embarassing in Kyoto speak. At least I burn used veggie oil part time

don't be embarrassed about that... my work van averages less than 400km to a tank... and it has a 110L tank! (welcome to the domestic vehicle market!)
even the pickup truck that was rented for me a couple weeks ago only got 15L/100Km and that was a brand new chev that brags about it's great fuel economy! (90L for 600Km...)

don't compare these vehicles to the efficiency of small cars, compare them to pickup trucks and full size vans (of which we have all the functionality) and you'll find the fuel economy positively amazing.

and the power absolutely non existant.

don't worry, I love it. a dodge 1500 from 3 years ago gets about the same milage though, can't remember what year, but it is an impressive machine. Maybe it was special, the frybrid guy owns it and says it gets 26mpg, and thats on veg oil.
