how much is my deli worth?

Hey there,

I am increasingly considering getting rid of my 93 (94 model year with watercooled turbo) L300....

Either in favor of something a bit more fuel efficient (like a Mitsubishi Outlander or a Nissan X-Trail or something) or maybe in favor of an L300 low roof.... either way (no decision is made to this point) I'd like to get some opinions from experienced buyers and sellers as to what a pretty decent L300 would go for these days (or what I could fairly and honestly ask and get for my van):

Just to highlight a few points about my ride:

Some may remember my earliest post which was voicing a lot of disappointment about Delicas - due to overheating problems at the onset of my "partnership" with my L300, my van now boasts (amongst other things listed below):

- Complete New Cylinder Head
- Timing Belt, all hoses, radiator, Waterpump and thermostat all replaced about 12'000 km's or just over one year ago
- Trailer Hitch from E&H, complete with wiring
- Front Skidplate (from Fishslapper)
- HID-Style Xenon Headlight Bulbs
- Superbright LED marker lights front
- LED tail- and brake lights
- New 150 Watt Rear Speakers (front ones are unfortunately still original)
- DVD/CD/MP3/Bluetooth Radiodeck/IPod hook-up and remote with built in DVD screen - professionally installed by car-audio shop (no self wired mess)
- Fancy "Shifter-Knobs" for both, Auto-Shifter and 4WD selector (4wd selector custom-engraved with shift pattern)
- Chrome-Bush Bar (vs. original White ones)
- High Beam spot-Lights instead of Fog Lights
- New Front Break-Pads and Calipers (about 4'000km ago)
- Custom-Built flat tool box with two drawers in trunk (rear bench fits over top, folded up or down)

Other than that, it is pretty much original - these are the features:

- High Roof Exceed L300 (i.e. non rear sunroofs)
- Captains Chairs and rear bench (no middle bench seat)
- Two tone metallic green and silver
- Absolutely no rust - I've seen the unit on the hoist at CVI - it looks pristine underneath in every way
- 68'000 km's
- Auto Transmission
- ECU currently disconnected (manual glow-plug button - but I am considering an exchange or rebuilt ECU)-
- Overall, great shape and runs well

I paid $ 11'500 (plus tax) in September 2008...

Oh, and I disconnected the rear 'back-up beeper" as it was driving me absolutely nuts

Any feedback that you guys might have would be great...

Thanks and kind regards,
Chris

Apart from that gravelpit at Spences Bridge, my deli has (for as long as I've had it) not once seen dirt or offroad conditions

These are the bright LED marker lights in the front (I turn on the marker lights and use them as Daytime running lights) vs. the standard headlights

it's really hard to say right now, from what I can tell of yours, it's one of the nicest ones around, but I've seen even some really nice ones down around $7,000 these days, but then the going rate for a good L300 still seems to be in the $10,000-12,000 range...

You could try getting it appraised, but really, the only way you'll find out what it's really worth, is to try to sell it, as long as you're not in a hurry, start high and reduce the price if it doesn't sell...

Or I could go with my other answer... it's a piece of garbage, not worth a penny... your best bet is to give up and just give it to me, I'll do you a favour and take it off your hands for you... ;-)

Hard to tell over the net. There's so many good, poor and everything in between examples.

Yours is a nice one.

I think a very clean Delica is worth more than the equivalent one that has not been taken care of but has more accessories.

I am also a fan of the highroof non-crystalite roof. I always liked those better and you don't see too many of them around that are in exceptional shape.

Like Green said as well, the worth is what someone is willing to pay for it.

Yours is a clean example and I would think that it would fetch higher than average today.

The maintenance aspect (cyl head/brakes, etc...) is negligible as a cost for the total asking price because those things should really be done regardless since they are maintenance items.

The extra's that you have, hitch/skid plate, etc... add to the cost along with yours being clean and a non-crystalite roof.

Don't try to sell it in Alberta. 6000$+, including an L400 with 112,000km for 8000$.

I paid 7700$ this past spring for mine which had been bought for $12k and had $5k worth of work done on it that year. The demand just isn't there right now. Maybe that'll change?

I still see BC prices up to 14,000$ and wonder how long they sit for and how much they actually sell for.
Asorenson was selling his gorgeous camperized van for about 10,000$ I think, and it would easily sit in the 14,000$+ range in a healthy market..

Cheers,
Erik

Spearo, that silver L400 is a scam. It's still in Japan and available for purchase with an exporter. What is wrong with people these days ?

Ok, I didn't look too hard at that one.
