Headlight sweetness

Driving home in the snow today after work, gee the lights seem even dimmer than usual. Oh yes, the dreaded headlight burnout. Being a new owner, ie: no idea on what bulb? Is it a Sealed beam? How does the light pod come off? A quick scan of this great site, and 20 min later after a trip to crap tire, no more one eyed bandit. Without the correct info, I would still be outside in the dark freezing my ass.
