Hi I am a new member with a L300 and was wondering if anyone has any sugestions on a improved aftermarket turbo I could install for a little more power?

An intercooler and/or a larger exhaust would probably be a much better bang for your buck

turn up your turbo pressure to just before the pop off valve blows, turn up fuel pressure, K&N air filter, 2.5" exhaust. Goes along way in performance .

How do I adjust my turbo and fuel pressure?
I am currently installing an EGT Gauge before I do any mods.
This morning I was headed up to big white and the cooling line to the turbo blew.....
I hope I did not cook the turbo.....

As for fuel pressure....I cant find anything on the forum but i Could easily show you if you are in the area (Lower Mainland). Basically on the rearward facing portion of your IP there is an adjusting screw and lock nut. The lock nut is a 14mm and you can adjust the screw with a standard (flat) blade screwdriver. What I did was to unlock the nut and adjust (clockwise) 1/4 turn. Take for a test drive noting performance and watching for black smoke from exhaust and exhaust temps. Continue to adjust until the performance "feels" better and the exhaust smoke and temps are reasonable.

What year do you have ? Water cooled turbo ?

Like others said.

2 1/4 " or 2.5 " exhaust with a good muffler, adj boost/fuel.

If you're not sure how to do it, I would highly recommend finding someone who has experience with it.

It's very easy to cook the turbo, among other things if you're not careful.

Also, unless you've done these already, replace injector nozzles/rebuild injectors, rebuild injection pump, change fuel filter/oil/trans fluids, check brakes for dragging, calipers for warping and U-joints/CV's for wear.

All of those pieces can contribute to lower mpg, lower power/speed.

I have a 94 Exceed 110,00o K water cooled turbo.
One of the turbo cooling lines blew off the other day,what a chore to replace that....
EGT Gauge is almost installed then I am going to proceed to increase boost a little and see if that helps the lack of power.

Any idea why that might have happened? was it simply a loose connection, or was the coolant under too much pressure, in which case you may have a more serious problem?

If you're into adding gauges the boost gauge will really help when increasing the turbo boost. The "pop valve" can release @ anything from about 12 to 15 or 18 psi. The adjustment gets really delicate once you are over 13 psi. I've disabled my " pop valve" and run about 15 to 18 psi. really makes a difference. I know of others that are running as high as 25 psi. The extra boost really controls the EGT.

Assuming that is only if your boost compensator has stopped compensating and has stopped dumping in extra fuel at those psi levels.

Speaking of which, what is the boost fuel delivery ramp like in the L300? Adjustable? Annoying over-boost fuel cut? Never noticed any posts here on people tweaking their boost compensators?

? If you adjust the boost to just before the blow valve pops is this the max the compensator will compensate the increase and allow more fuel to be dumped in.Is it correct that the more you compress intake air the more fuel you can potentially cram in?

In respect to the blown line...I think someone in japan installed a incorrect dia hose.I replaced the hose and flushsed the system and so far so good....
I have sucesfuly installed he EGT Gauge it will be interesting to see the difference in EGT when the boost is increased.
So if the boost compensator is working and you are running high boost the egt might no be effected much as the compensator wont allow enough fuel?The fuel to air ratio will be messed up..
Maybe installing a water Meth system to cool the cylinder temp at extra high boostwould help.Could you have a water meth system kick in at high egt?

easier to have the meth injection on a toggle with the boost switch so that you can arm or disarm as req'd. There is lots of talk of this system on another post.

Just to answer your initial question... Yes it can be done.
I have tons of these pictures but that should give you a good idea...
