I'm assuming these would fit an L400 as well? or is there some reason I wouldn't want to do that?

They won't fit on an L400.
Center bore is 2mm larger on the L400 than the L300.

Is the bolt pattern the same? Could the holes be "opened up"?

Most Toyota rims have a center bore of 106mm
Mitsubishi L400's , 2nd Gen Pajero's have a hub diameter of 108mm which means you'd need to hone out the center bore hole 2mm on the Toyo rims.
L300 delica's and 1st gen Pajero/Montero's have a center hub size of 106mm which fits the Toyo's perfectly.

too bad, I really need some rims for my second set of tires...
