Machining rims/wheels to fit your Delica/Pajero/Spacegear

I originally bought 4 Toyota 91-00 wheels from a Tundra/4Runner to mount on my L400 Spacegear.

What I did not realize at the time was that most Toyota trucks have a 106mm center bore hub diameter, while our Spacegear has 108mm.

Mitsubishi L300 Delica center bore hub = 106mm
Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero Gen I = 106mm

Mitsubishi L400 Spacegear center bore hub = 108mm
Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero Gen II = 108mm

So I was left with 2mm's of alloy that needed to be removed from the center bore hole to fit properly on the L400.

I contacted 16 different machine shops in the lower mainland and only one told me they can do it.

The fellow's name is Paul. He's from New Zealand and he's very friendly and knowledgeable guy.

I was referred to Paul from a fellow L400 owner who had the same dilemma.

$100 cash gets you four rims honed out to the proper center bore hole size with precision.

It took him over half an hour to measure, measure, measure and then setup.

The actual honing process takes a min per wheel.

The tires (rubber) have to be removed from the wheel (rim) prior to this so it will fit on the machine.

If anyone heads over his way and is interested like I am in machinery, it's a candy store. He has some really cool stuff.

He is primarily a custom fabricator.

You could also try Green's automotive in Richmond...they do custom wheel work for us at work. I do realize that this is a shameless plug but just though I'd add another alternative or possibility

Good job pointing out the difference in the centre hole diameter, jfarsang. Lots know of the Toyota/Delica swap-over trick, but obviously it won't quite work for the "new" L400s and second-gen Pajeros. Amazing difference 2mm will make, eh?

The more the merrier.

I couldn't find one that would do it with a firm price over the phone.

A few said 'maybe' and 'it may get expensive depending on how long it will take to setup' = who knows.



The toyota 15x7 alloys fit perfect. 4 5/8" backspacing with 31x10.5x15 aggressive tires put it past the body about 1/2-3/4 of an inch which is perfect. Wider stance but not too much.

Do you know if he can do steel Toyota rims, or only Aluminum?

I called Paul, and unfortunately he can only mill out the Aluminum rims, not Steel.

So, once my Deli arrives I will probably have some nice silver powder coated Toyota Rims available for an L300 user!

That is a good works of you have and you gave some information about the size of rim for each vehicle. I think some people who are looking some information like these they will like it. I got some little information about the rim for my vehicle.
