I thought I's post some pics of what I found today.

While doing an oil change today, I pulled off all the armour from the beast and found something interesting. There are a few of you out there who have changed their front sway bar end bushings due to bad stages of rot or just plain missing. Mine are in okay shape but are slated for replacement on my to do list, while snooping about, I found my sway bar main mount bushings in horrible shape. I have only a slight clunking remaining in my front end and though this may not have anything to do with it, I thought it is something worth mentioning, as I will be ordering 4 sets of new bushings to do my whole sway bar.

I reccomend that you all check yours next time you are crawling around, if you haven't already.

I ordered a full set of sway bar end bushings (energy suspension sway bar end bushings kit part # 9.8016) [exact fit yet to be confirmed], but I'd like to replace the the lock nut and bolts at the axle as they are looking pretty worn. They are a fine thread number 8, and short of seeking these out through a fastener supplier, does someone have a comparable part number?

I looked everywhere for those bolts and ended up using regular metric hardware from Lordco. It's not rated for suspension (grade 5?) but I'm not too concerned that a swaybar end bolt will shear off and if it does, well, it's not too dangerous.

I did speak with the parts manager at the local Mitsubishi dealer and he said just come in with the VIN and he can have it cross-referenced and order any parts we would need.

I was able to get some fine thread metric bolts which are a pretty close approximation of the originals, but they are about a 1/4 inch shorter which I didn't think would be a problem, but caused enough grief in the moment that I re-installed new bushings with old bolts.

I'll get something a little longer one of these days. In the meantime I sheared one of the bolts off the frame mount end of the sway bar and am in the process of dealing with that screw up!

Where did you get your bushings and do you have any part numbers?

I bought this energy suspension set: "9.8105G Sway bar end link bushing set" which comes with eight pieces and washers so enough to do all four mounts, but they are a bit taller than stock I think and quite a bit stiffer than rubber so can be a bit of a brute to get bolted back together.

Also on this site you'll find recommendations to use a shock tower bushing set (energy suspension 9.8126 I think) and these are a little shorter and may be a better and easier replacement. Either way an eight piece kit is only 10 or 12 bucks so no big risk.

If your parts dealer has a decent inventory in stock just take an old bushing w/ you and compare.

Hi, i do understand you buy the sway bar bushing kit, you dont buy this sway bar kit, as i post before, you only need this part# 98101R shock Tower bushing only not the link Rod .you need 2 sets of this shock tower bushing.for upper & lower sway bar. pls dont change the link pcs with lordco kit cause the height of the sway bar kit is different from lordco, you just replace the rubber that all. then it will works fine, have this kind of repair to all of my delica, seems dont have any problem at all for long time.
